I am going to buy a new in box TT-01 escort and i was wondering how hard it is to build and is there any common faults etc. This is my first build [:S] and i need you help.

Thanks, Shane

Real easy , takes an evening to build friend's. Just follow the instruction manual and you can't go wrong.

I'm not new to building cars but mine went from the box to a running chassis in under an hour, so take your time, follow the manual and it's easy!

Well i like you only took up the hobby not too long ago, I also started with the wrc escort but i had already ordered hop ups such as the tamiya bearings, prop shaff, rz motor, carbon upper frame. It took me 2 evenings to build it, though unfortunately i don't have a table where i could have laid everything out which is a must. I tried to do it sitting in a chair while the wife had the heating on full blast and that combined with the small pins that you have to balance in made me a little short tempered. Though i would advise that you take your time because at some point or another its going to have to come apart again either for maintenance or to fit upgraded parts, after a few times though you will get the hang of it. The only problem then is you will want to buy another and build it to perfection and then another and another. You also become addicted to hop ups, mo matter how little they do or how much they cost.

As said the TT01 is quite easy to build, follow the manual and you can't go wrong (Tamiya are known for the best assembly manuals!!)

One thing I would recommend is buying the bearings at the same time so you can fit them as you build as it's easier than pulling it all apart at a later date to fit them!!

THanks for the help guys, what about the TL01?

TL-01 is a bit outdated now, very very easy build and a really tough hard wearing chasis. Depending on how your driving is a TL01 will take more abuse than the TT01.
