The wife bought me a fantastic birthday present...  A track day!

Pictures here: http://www.tcphotos.com/section.asp?sid=9788&secid=874

Yep, that is me driving in each shot.  Had to post it up on here as it was a superb deal.  She purchased the deal with Tesco Clubcard vouchers!!!!  £1 in vouchers gets £4 worth of the deals.

It was up in Loughborough and run by Everyman racing.  Well worth a go for anyone who loves fast cars as they actually get you to drive fast around the track, not just taking it carefully.

Cheers all

Cheers Joel,

No crashes (thank god) although the Aston had a tail twitch moment and the Lambo made some lovely squealing noises during a 4 wheel slide when I applied too much throttle mid corner...  I think those are known as "moments" or even "brown trouser moments"!  [:D]

My birthday isn't until the 23rd, but this was the only time that we could easily get up to there to go play.

I would recommend it to anyone on here as it is absolutely nuts!!!!!

badword Joel, it's being Cheerful that keeps you going! [:D]

I'd love to have a go at something like that, but i'm assuming you have to have held a driving licence for 2/3 years or something?

I believe that as long as you have a full UK license, then it's fine.

It was strange really, as they didn't even check mine! (it is full and clean)

Ah bum, someone needs to setup similar for 15-17year olds, not even high-performance cars, jusr driving and track experience in a car!

Now thats what i call a birthday pressie! Nice shots.

If you want to get into driving before you are 17 Mike you should try autograss racing. I think in class 1 they race pretty standard minis with just mud and snow tyres on a grass (usually just mud) oval. Some excellent opposite lock action to be had too! I have seen some really young drivers do it, usually they have parents that race but i  know you don't need a full licence. I expect you will be saving for a proper road 1/1 car rather than this but just an idea.

Cool Deal.  We here in the States actually do Autocross and Track events every Sunday.  Here's a pic or two - I love it.  Most of my friends are involved.
