The 4VWD will work great.  It's what Tamiya includes in their full option Knight hauler kit.  I have four of these radios and they work well especially if you plan to buy the new MFU.  But I really feel that the 4YF  http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...EFJ4**&P=ML is a much better deal.  You get 4 ball bearing servos instead of 2 regulars and the transmitter and receiver come with NiCd's.  I think the biggest benefit is that it's FM which is less seceptable to interference.  I bought tow of these for a couple of builds and look forward to using them.

I'm having trouble with my new Futaba 4VWD set. The 2 steering servos are 'glitching' (sitting still, chittering away to themselves, but not moving the wheels). I tried swapping them around, and moving the reciever/ESC around to they don't interfere, and also plugging other servos in. I thought it might settle down with some use, but it still continues to chatter.

Has anyone else had this problem, and how do you shut it up?!

I've a graupner MX-12, I also use it for my planes. And I have to say that it's a real great en good working thing. I can really recommend it.

Check www.modellbau-bichler.de for MX-12's that are not very expensive. You can do all the settings you want, throttle-curves etc. Really nice.

One of your servos might be junk, try disconnecting 1 or the other and see if it still does it. There is a lot of metal to metal contact, but try the servo swapping first. Next is mount your reciever as high and away from the chassis as possible, even mounted inside the cab if you have to.

Thanks for the reply - but in my case I have no cab because its on a detacable lexan body on a Clod duralium custom chassis rather than a Hilift. But it was glitching even before I installed it into the truck. I'm wondering if the reciever itself is at fault. The nuisance is that I got it from good ol' StellaModels but I live in the UK so I can't just easily swap it! Plus I've had it about 3 months now so am not sure about return policy.

Don't get me wrong - the Futaba 4VWD radio equipment itself is easy to set up & use, and I'm pleased with it on the whole. Just this niggle to sort out.

27mhz is susceptable to all kinds of interference.  There is an area of my driveway that makes everything go crazy.  Try running in a different area.

The 4YF can be purchased as a park flyer kit that comes with the smaller R114F micro receiver (i.l.o. the larger one with the 4EXA). Can a micro receiver handle the current drain from two Hitec HS645MG steering servos on a TXT-1?? The 4YF is BEC compatible.

The Futaba home page is minimal on tech specs.

Guess I forgot to use my brain again. Micro receivers don't accept J-style plugs fom standard size servos do they. So micro receivers are out of the question for cars.
