Well, thought i would share my experience of building the kit although I am still waiting for the motor, steering servo & body.  I will add some things & change some parts out.  Here goes:

Step 5 is the assembly of the spur gear & motor mount.  Here's the parts:

That's all for today - I will work on getting less blurry photos [:S].  Share your thoughts & comments !

Step 5 is the assembly of the motor mount, spur gear & bevel gear for the driveshaft.  I replaced Part L4 with the optional clear diff cover.  Here's the parts:

Assembled & ready for the chassis:

On they go ! This is the rear of the car:

Next is the assembly and installation of the front steering bellcranks, gearbox & one-way diff:

Closely followed by the driveshaft, middle support & steering servo.  Also, you can add the items needed to run a stick pack.  I opted to leave them out as it's for the shelf.  I also had to leave out the steering servo as I'm still awaiting the purchase of a Cirus clear servo.  Also missing the motor as it's in the mail.

Next up is the assembly & installaton of the front arms:

Followed of course by the assembly & installation of the rear arms:

Froont & rear arms on the chassis:

Next, we have to assemble the swaybars, universals, & front & rear hubs.  Here are the front ones:

Rear assembled & installed:

Next is the assembly of the shock towers & their installation.  Then, shock assembly ! I lost two e-clips that the vacuum will find at some point:

Shock installation:

Of course you need the tires & wheels.  I opted to leave the white dish wheels in the package & instead bought some HG "Sebring" aluminum rims that I gave a quick polish.  These were topped with HPI tires:

Had to use the included red 1mm spacers to get the wheels to fit properly.  Finally, the install of the body mounts & front bumper:

 Still awaiting:

  • body (will be a Honda Civic) (looking for a painter)
  • Tamiya Super Stock TZ motor (in the mail
  • Cirrus CS701BB steering servo (tyring to find one)

This is my warm up build post for when my Thundertech Desert Racer arrives.  I'll work on the phot problem.

Stay tuned when all the parts have arrived I'll finish the build (with clear photos).  Thanks !

Looking good!  I like those rims.

I find that if you get a LOT of light your close-ups will be much clearer.  I use a halogen worklight-- and snap them quickly before it gets too hot!

Could be just you're taking pix from too close, closer than the shortest focus point of your camera.

Most digicams need minimum about 1m away, even those advertised with "macro". I once used a Canon Powershot that had a special lever that changes the lens to take really closeup shots (about 15-20cm) but I haven't seen same in any modern digicam made today...

Usually have to stand 1m away and then use the zoom (optical only!!) to frame your pic.

Thanks Mr WillyChang, I think you got my problem solved. I tested out that method briefly today & got these:

Looks very nice!  I don't see an ESC (or rx), so can I assume it's a shelf queen?  Just curious if we'll see any video of it moving!! [;)]

Good job and thanks for sharing!

What can I say other than "excellent job".[:)] I feel kind of bad that you put all that work into it and that it won't be run just once.[:(]

Thanks mate !  I didn't figure out the photography until the end - but I got it now.  Just awaiting arrival of my Thundertech Desert Racer & I'll do a better thread with that.

The evo iv ms was a delight to build - I'm happy with it - even if it is only for the "shelf" [;)].
