I would really like to know what everyone does with their Tamiya R/C vehicles. Some make them shelf queens while others will run them to pieces. Which of these type of activities do you do most? I am not sure which is better, to savor the clean crisp look of a Tamiya model or to enjoy seeing it run around over rocks and grass.[*-)]

For me it depends on the car.  Some were bought to be runners.

The bulk of my collection are shelfers though

They go on the shelf [:)].

The ones I have broken down & used have been sold shortly after because they feel "violated" afterwards.

They will continue to go on the shelf BUT I am currently trying to decide which nitro truck to get so I have at least one to beat the snot out of and not feel bad afterwards [;)].

I like all my cars to look good, but at the same time I bought them to run, not to look at.  So they almost all get run as and when I can run them - just spent a lot of money kitting them all with ESCs and radios so I can run each one whenever I like, and not have to keep swapping electrics.

I have a few shelf projects in the pipeline, but I expect they'll get driven carefully from time to time

All mine are bought to be used!  I do like looking at them on the shelf between runs but I cannot justify buying a r/c car and not using it.

The smile I get seeing them racing around a track or 'running free' [:D] cannot be matched by shelf perving.

Some of my cars are shelfers only, some get run to death. I find that if I spend time and effort restoring and making something look good, then I don't want to destroy it. The nibs I have are only nib because I haven't got round to building them yet.

All mine will be runners (except me bugging, they are shelfed, because they have been raced already), some more carefully than others.  For me its scale running now.

I buy mine to run, but if I particularly like a model, I'll buy a second as a shelf queen. It depresses me to see my favourite RC's get caned by big roll overs, so having a second shelf queen one gets rid of the guilt!! Hence I have 2 of most of my cars now!

runners for the used ones or the modern ones (when I find time to build them), unless they're limited editions... otherwise shelfers or NIB, even some used ones when they're in perfect shape - I have a used bigwig with a new body kit/driver/decal sheet and this one will definitely remain on the shelf...

Regarding vintage NIB's, I get really emotional when I pull out one of my NIB kits and open the box to see all these nicely arranged, shiny parts, and virgin instruction manuals, especially the ones I bought years ago before they were selling for silly prices on ePay... am I the only who who's over sensitive to that and can spend half an hour in awe, staring at an open Road Wizard or Monster Beetle box ? ;)

Cheers
