Hey Everyone, I am checking to see who is going to the RC Expo next weekend.  I am attending on Saturday with my father-in-law and will be there at around 12 to 1 pm.  I am driving out from Phoenix in the morning.  Maybe some of us can meet up as it would be nice to meet from other TC members and check out the show.

I will most likely be there on Sunday.  It's Pomona by the way. [:D]  Pomona is the Roman god of agriculture.  We need Tamiyaclub shirts!

If anyone is going on Saturday we can meet up at a certain area or we can all wear Tamiya America shirts.  I have the standard black Tamiya flag t-shirt, the white one with the big logo and a bunch of tcs shirts.  I have the items to make up a t-**** with my printer and can iron it on but I am not what everyone else can do.  We can also just give each other a call since we may arirve on different days.  I also plan on getting from Kenny Rogers Roasters in Ontario MIlls Mall.  I know it sounds weird but man do I miss thier chicken.  Boston Market does not stack up at all!  Now you are all entitled to a good laugh.......NOW!

Oops on the spelling of Pomona.....no excuses since I have driven through the town countless times...  I gotta see the Mopar Nationals there some day.

Any input?

 Thanks for the ideas, Artie

Yup, only 3 people!  Where is everybody.  This is one of the most important r/c events in the SW and I spoke with Tamiya today and I asked about Tamiyacon and the person I spoke with said he was not sure if it was really going to happen since thier new facitliy in Irvine is going to be much smaller.  He did say thier track in Aliso Viejo remain open into the fall for the TCS finals.

I will show up to hang with Cardesigner at the Hot Wheels booth.  I will be wearing a Tamiya t-**** and my father-in-law is going to be at the show with me since it bores my wife.

Mo TC at the RCX!

Count in number 4!! I'll be there today (Saturday) and will probably wear my TamiyaCon 2006 shirt or a Tamiya GrassHopper shirt I got from Hong Kong.

I just came back from RCX 2007 a little while ago (I was there from 1:30pm to around 4:00pm). I tried to find Artie and CarDesigner in the HotWheels area of the DieCast building. Unfortunately I was not lucky [:(] I also was hoping to find you guys in the RCX building (in the Tamiya area), but was not lucky either.

I was wearing a blue TamiyaCon 2006 T-Shirt. If you saw me, please let me know. I didn't see anyone else wearing a TamiyaCon shirt anywhere at the Expo.

The show is divided between two buildings: The Die Cast building for Hot Wheels etc and the almighty RCX building for all that is RC [:D]

The RCX building has one large dirt track in the middle (mostly racing Kyosho nitro class), a smaller track for Hobby People (mostly racing RC10 trucks), a Rock Crawler course (builds of all kinds) and a few small tracks for the minis and micros.

Kyosho has one of the largest displays, but Tamiya is right behind them with a nice display. Unfortunately nothing Tamiya is for sale at the expo, but you can see a demo of the MFU for the F350 (pretty cool) and they had their new Panther Tank as well. I talked to a couple of Tamiya guys about the move and about TamiyaCon 2007. It looks like they plan to move TamiyaCon to the Orange County Fairgrounds since they will pretty much be moved out of the Aliso Viejo facility by the end of June.

They were very quiet about revealing any information on upcoming releases, although they did know about the TamTech Rough Rider (not on display) and wondered how I knew about it [:)]  They did confirm that all their re-releases (GrassHopper, Hornet, Frog, Brat, etc) have been super successful in sales. In some cases they could not make them fast enough to meet initial demand since most of us like to buy three - one to run, one for display and one to keep in the box. Although they could not say anything further, I got the feeling they still have more re-releases planned.

The rest of the show includes large displays for all major RC makers, RC Parts vendors, etc. If you have a decent powered PC, find the Horizon Hobbies display and grab a free copy of the VRC Demo CD. It's a pretty cool RC Car touring simulator that plays really well and uses simulated USB RC Controllers. The computers they had at the show kinda skipped a little bit while the Demo was running, but my PC at home ran perfectly smooth with all the detail options turned on.

Hope this helps. Let me know what you guys find at the show.

Nice show.  The MFU unit for the F350 is pretty neat.  You can plug in an MP3 player and drive to your own music.  How crazy is that?  Also, I now realize why the exhaust tips have such an elaborate design.  The MFU has a vibration unit that makes the exhaust tips move like the real thing.

For the Kyosho fans, I saw the Ultima RB5.  Apparently, the cars are in the country and are waiting to be distributed across the country.  I also saw the tiny wind up Optima.  How cute.

Sorry I missed it this year guys (first one missed since it started). Jun (Cardesigner) gave me the low down. We really do need to get the SoCal members together more often. We had a great turn out at the end of last year in El Segundo (LA) so I know you guys are out there. It would be nice to think that at one point we could have a little demo of our own at RCX.

Sounds great to me!  I'm keeping my eye out for any upcoming SoCal events. Too bad we didn't meet up at the RCX 2007 show. It was pretty cool.
