all i know about chargers is they charge batteries, im using a ripmax pro-peak varipulse 2500vp, are these any good as i dont race just bash about as much as i can, at mo using cheapo 3000mah nimh packs, best one i have is a reedy black label 2 3300mah, thing is wanting to increase and start using high amp batteries and woundered if a better charger would be worth while.

The Propeak chargers are okay for starting off, but you will always get better results from a higher spec charger, especially if you are racing. I use an Orion Advantage 2, good charger but annoying sounds which you can't turn down! Others which come highly recommended are the LRP Pulsar and Competition Electronics Pit Bull. Or you could go for the Competition Electronics Turbo 35 (previously sold by Schumacher) - only £350 [:o]

I like the look of the Superbrain too, haven't used one but I've seen one in action and it seems good. It also has the advantage of being able to charge 2 packs at once, and they can be of different capacity. It looks like the best charger in that price range to me.

Agreed on the MRC Super Brain chargers.

A 959 will charge any Ni-Cad or Ni-MH battery just fine at up to 4.5 amps.

A 969 will charge two Ni-Cad or Ni-MH batteries at once, and charges at up to 5 amps.

A 977 will charge two Ni-Cad or Ni-MH or Li-Po batteries at once, at up to 10 amps.

A 989 charges just about any single battery, even with many cells, and also functions as a power supply.

I picked up a MRC 989 at a hobby shop that had a 60% off sale so I couldn't pass it up.  It does a great job of charging, I just wish the power supply was integrated into one unit instead of two separate pieces.

I have two Reedy quasar pro chargers and they have worked great.  they do NiCd and NiMh.  they are discontinued and can be bought used for about $50 with is pretty good considering they were $179 at one time.

Duratrax Ice! I swear by my one, best charger on the planet for the price. Even does LiIon and LiPo. You do need a decent 12V power supply for it though.
