Some lowlife broke into my factory yesterday and stole 3 of my Tamiyas! He used a jemmy on the door - completely smashing both the deadlock and the handle-lock -  and taking large chunks out of the door frame.  I have a number of my cars in the back office and he took this one:

http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...580&id=2193, a Blackfoot and a Schnitzer BMW on a TA03 chassis. That must have been all he could carry because he left behind the King Hauler, Flatdeck trailer, King Tiger, Super Champ, Full-op Sherman, Robbe Forkhoist, Kyosho Chevy 4WD and my trusty No 1 Grasshopper.

The cops reckon he was after copper (we do electrical stuff) but probably got frightened off by the alarm and just grabbed what was handy.

Scumbag.

Needless to say the other vehicles have been moved to a safer location.

All i can suggest is to keep track of all r/c items on ebay, and local yard sale/car boot sales. You never know, your cars might just turn up.

Then you can show them what it is like to loose something special! [:D]

Yeh like all of thier fingers off one hand.[:@]

I really feal for you chap, I just hope the cops do thier job and catch the git that stole them.

Is a bummer when someone breaks into your place and take stuff.  Hope your insurance will cover the damages and stolen RC.

The thiefs are either local kids which you may spot your RC at the local tracks or at your local pawn shop if they were after other things like you've mentioned, copper.

The bright side is they didn't take your more expensive RC or cause any serious property damage other than the door and locks.

I can only suggest, if not done already, to put alarm stickers on all your doors/entrances and windows plus use motion detect light sensors to and real or dummy CCTV.  Thiefs, like everyone else, like to go to the path of least resistance.

Thanks for the support guys.  Yeah, I count myself lucky that I didn't lose anything rare or expensive, but that S10 was a favourite runner!

The factory is covered in 'burglar alarm" stickers, has two dummy CCTV cameras, (soon to be replaced by real ones), grills on all the windows, a good alarm system (monitored), sensor lights etc..... . But if someone is really keen then they will always try to get in.

There is no point in claiming on my business insurance - the excess is $2,500 !  I might be able to claim through my home insurance, but then I would lose my no-claims bonus and pay for it through the premium.

I'm keeping an eye on the local auction sites, and I keep expecting that I'll see the cars running in the school grounds that my office looks out on to!

That's a shame about your stuff.  That is a good start with those deterrents - but you are right - if they want in they get in.  Unfortunately thieves are in & out within just a few moments quickly grabbing what they can.  Basically, an alarm is good for notifying the alarm company that someone has broken in [N].  By the time the alarm company gets the alarm, calls the police then the police get dispatched precious minutes have gone by & the culprits are long gone.  The only thing that is of use then is if someone saw something at the time & decides to share it as descriptively as possible or there is video somewhere.  But that only helps if the culprits are well known to police.

Hopefully, you'll see the items on an auction or in someones hands [Y].

Don that sucks mate, having been in your factory and seeing a rather tasty Rough Rider if I remember correctly (???) you can only be glad they didnt get your other RC rides. Its probably a pretty fair bet they will end up on old T/M sooner or later.

There is a positive...you have space for three 'new' Tamiyas! Good luck in finding the others though mate.

That really suck, good luck finding them back mate. I really hope their fingers get chopped off, couple of nasty... They don't even know rc, and most likely they can't drive because they don't have any radio gear. So I think that the bay and local auctionsites and bootsales have the biggest chance for the cars to turn up there.

Guy, yep - I was thinking I could use more space, but this wasn't exactly what I had in mind!  The RR wasn't there fortunately, but I have realised that I had recently swapped a better body onto the Blackfoot. So I now have the broken one on my runner - If only I had waited another week before doing that!

You know strangely enough my  missus doesn't think I should spend any money to replace these cars ("you have enough other ones!"). And if they are not safe at work and I'm not allowed to put any in the bedroom - what am I to do??

Some news on the stolen cars - I saw two of them listed on the local auction site!  What's more, I know the seller! He runs a hobby shop (he's a nice guy).  I went and had a chat with him and he told me that some dodgy looking character had sold him the two cars for next-to-nothing.  Being a good operator, and in accordance with the laws relating to operating a business dealing in second-hand goods, he got a name and address from the seller. Would you believe it - I can see this guys house from my office window!!

I passed this info to the police and they went and had a chat to this guy. He reckoned that he found the cars in the room that he had been renting to his nephew. He had kicked the nephew out for not paying rent, and sold the cars to recover some of what he was owed.

Well the police haven't located the nephew yet, and I still don't know where the Blackfoot is, but at least I will be getting the Chevy S10 and BMW back. And the main thing is that we now know who the ****** who broke into my factory is!

Ahhhh the joys of a small country and heavily used auction site!

 Excellent result.

Pity about the Blackfoot but you never know it will probably turn up sooner or later!

I disagree, although its not a quick process a monitored alarm system prevents you from being totally cleaned out, like you say they only get a few minutes. We got turned over and it seems after the alarm went off they didnt panic too much until the phone rang, then they know its time to leave (i.e. monitoring station calling). Although nothing protects (apart from land mines, lol) it does somewhat help

Got two of my cars back today!! The police have caught up with the *******er who nicked my cars - he is currently in the slammer awaiting trial on 22 charges! Unfortunately they can't pin the break-in at my factory on him due to lack of hard evidence. There were no fingerprints and it was his uncle who sold the cars to the hobby shop. The Uncle is blaming the nephew, and the nephew is blaming the uncle, so the cops reckon it is a waste of time and taxpayers money to try to chase the case. I agree. However the nephew is already in prison and is up on 22 other charges, including some of burglary, and is sure to be doing time as they do have evidence for these other crimes. That's good enough for me.

The cars I got back are the Chevy S10 and the BMW Schnitzer TA03. Unfortunately not the Blackfoot. The Chevy, which was painted matt black, is now matt white! You can see it here:

Just saw this post and I was wondering if you ever got the blackfoot back?

Never got the Blackfoot back. And I never found out the identity of the burglar! The cops reckoned our privacy laws prevented them from being being able to let me know. The only thing I can think of is that the guy was up on some serious charge that involved name suppression.

The TA03 BMW is now a R32 Skyline drifter, the Chevy S-10 is still the same except that I have replaced the motor that the moron had burned out.

The Blackfoot never turned up on the trading site (would have been easy to spot - it has a Technituned motor in it).
