hope this is based on the original

Hmmm [*-)] given the recent Avante MkII [+o(] one wonders of the execution Tamiya has in mind. If Tamiya creates a hideous body to place on the DF03 chassis that would almost be a bigger insult than the Avante Mk2. The Df03 chassis shape is far different from the box type chassis of the original 'shot' series. Maybe as the Thundershot was a recent re-re, the re-re Hotshot may be not to hard to do, just release an ESC with the Thundershot tub chassis and the rest is Hotshot, somewhat along the lines of the strategy used with the Frog/Brat re-re, i.e. some minor changes but close to the original, which would be nice now wouldn't it!

Ooh!  That was unexpected [:D]

Going by the name it's

gotta be a re-re or a close remake of the original, hasn't it..?

If it was a DF03 or complete new car then surely it'd be a Hotshot MkII

like the Avante..?

Here's hoping we get a nice vintage re-re this year then [:D]

Oh dang - MORE stuff to save up for [:(]

as long as its something close to the original and the boxart is the same I'll be very happy. [:D]

judging by the part number, it may be a new chassis.

judging by the part number, it may be a new chassis.

How do you figure that?

All the new Re-Releases have had new numbers except the XR311 a few years back. So I would like to see the logic on this?

58391 1/10 R/C Hotshot

RC Top Force 2005 - 1/10 Re-Release

Item #58362

RC Thunder Shot 2005

Item #58361

RC Manta Ray 2005 - 1/10 Re-Release

Item #58360

RC The Frog - 1/10 Re-Release

Item #58354

This is the best news ever!!!!! I've been itching to get an original HotShot. Don't care if its a re-re, so long as it's designed on the same lines as the original (like all other re-re's - GrassHopper, Frog, etc).

If any Tamiya associates are reading this - you are awesome!! Keep up the re-re's!!

Dan

If it's really a Hotshot re-release this is my happiest day ever on TC[:)]

Its got to be a re-re surely. It would be called something different if it were a newer version of the older car, like the Avante II.  Great news if its true I'm having at least 2, I always wanted a Hotshot in the 80's.

Wow- must be a lot of 30-somethings in the world pining for their 80s buggies.  I raced the Hotshot back in the 80s and there have been so many other more capable 4wd buggies since then.  Don't get me wrong-- I will probably order at least 2 if I can.  [;)]

Happy day.... happy day!!

The steering and suspension travel is terrible on all the Shot series cars but there isn't a bad looker among them. The Hotshot and Supershot are for me without question the best two looking buggies Tamiya ever designed. I wonder if they'll make any improvements for the re-re?

The G parts comment made me laugh-- I just bought some R parts too!!

Hopefully they'll make a better mounting plate for the front bumper-- maybe something only attached to the mechanism box and not that gearbox mounting mess.  If they do change that design (imho the worst part of the Hotshot), maybe the old G trees may still be valuable.

Also, I'm not sure about the rest of the world but USA re-re spare parts didn't seem as readily available as I thought.  Plus there are no aftermarket companies making cool hop-ups like the 80s.  I think the old buggys will still hold their mystique!

if the Hotshot is coming, does it mean that tamiya will also reissue Supershot and Hotshot 2?oh no wait....i've never had a Thundershot. does that mean i've to get it to form The Shot family soon? hahahaha........Tamiya wants our wallet.....

WOW! That is such amazing news. I'm so glad they've kept the heatsinks there, they were such an important part of its looks.  I always wanted to build and run a Hotshot, NIB ones were just ridiculously expensive. i think i might have to have two, one as a runner and one for the shelf

Big cheers to Tamiya for listening to us.

I just knew this was coming!!!...which was why I have recently sold my new built and runner 'Shot. To all those who said there would be no more releases, well WE TOLD YOU SO!! To me it was obvious that Tamiya would re-re at least ONE of the 'Shot series transmission cars. They are an all plastic affair and would be very cheap to make.

Next will be the Boomerang. Absolutely guaranteed.

I predict within the next 2 years we will also have seen the Fox and Fast Attack Vehicle too. Watch this space.

 Happy days!! [:D]

Just been over to fleabay and bought myself a nice set of Hotshot yellow shock upgrades before they all get snapped up. I love the hotshot with yellow shocks like Mickeyos' one.
