Glad all that is over and done with.  Nice to see it's a re-re and no DF03 hybrid thing.

Now, when for the Monster Beetle?  What you reckon?  August announcement, November release?

Agree totally, its like a dream come true. This was one re-re i totally never thought would happen. Now I'm finally going to be able to build a Hotshot, something I never thought I would do without winning the lottery.

Hooray! It's as I expected then - new driveshafts/cups, updated damper internals and dummy heatsinks. Even has the window nets!

Shame the gold wheels aren't included, but I still have some of those spare... And adding the Hot Shot 2 chassis with the hatch for crystal changes is a good idea.

And there will be spares aplenty for a while for restoring runners. I do like the modern wheels on it.

Very pleased!

Darryn,

All of sudden there's a big push for 'Vintage' racing here in Vic. I was gonna run my Mardave but now I think it's Hotshot time!!!

Maybe you need to fire up everyone in Canberra for the same deal!

sweet. lots of new rear oval blocks and it won't cost and arm and a leg!

perhaps we will see pin spikes and gold rims soon after?

As I expected, the re-re gets the Hotshot 2 "trap door" chassis.

Only other difference I can see is that the damper springs are different....much more coils than the originals. Wonder if this gets rid of the woeful slop in the original car? Also wonder if they have done anything to the front gearbox wishbone mounting holes to eradicate the slack that occured?

I'm really surprised they have included the heatsinks, even if they are dummies. The new ones look even better than the originals, as they look to have mounted on a plastic strut rather that the old GRP one.

One thing that the re-re really does miss out on is the old KC daylighters. They were a huge part of the car's character. Oh well, I guess original decal set prices will go through the roof now!

Also think that the chances of the old hop-ups, ie gold wheels, HP suspension set, pin spikes etc getting re-re'd are very slim so I think that NIB/New Built Supershot values will be unaffected by this re-re.

I've got a swag of original NIB Hotshots, and while it's easy to get bummed that they probably just halved in value (or more) over night with this re-re, this means not only can I build a few Hotshots from the kit, but I can finally take some runners out and (ab)use them the way I used to as a kid - brilliant!

Like the other re-res, I'm glad there are a few minor tweaks to the design (whether they're improvements, or just concessions to modern manufacturing/cost etc) - as there will always be something magic about the original versions from my childhood, and in some weird way releasing an exact copy would take away from that a bit.

Now, where can I pre-order a few of these beauties? =)

Wow, this is great news.  I really like they way they've pretty much kept it original.  The beefed up parts should make a difference.  How am I going to get this car into my stable?  Darn you Tamiya!!!
