RC-Champ have quoted me 90 to have the basic Hotshot kit sent to me here in the UK. I must add I've never dealt with a more unreservedly polite company as RC Champ. I've just bought a complete option F350 from them but I was having problems with Paypal and RC champ were very helpful and understanding. I'll defo use them again from now on.

Don't bother trying to translate the page, the only ones of use are the first two

58391 Hot shot 2007 kit only 14200 yen

58391b Full hot shot 2007 kit + bearing set 15400 yen

The others are various deal packages that include a 1400mah battery and a Japanese mains charger.

The easiest way to order from them is to email Masa (he understands english) at champ_international@yahoo.co.jp with what you want and your address and he will email back with a price including delivery.

Hi, first post on the board. :)

Just finished building my 2007 Hotshot (I had it delivered to my place last Friday night). The build was straightforward enough, though I took my time with it. I never had the original hotshot when I was a kid, so can't comment on the differences between this one and the original though.

Looking forward to taking it to the local park at the weekend for some drivin fun ;)

quick question though - is the rear suspension supposed to be pretty stiff (in relation to the front)?

Thanks

Yes the rear suspension was stiffer than the front thanks to the nature of the linkage connecting the rear in-line monoshock to the top wishbones. It did not need to be very stiff to be stiffer than the front though as that area of the car was notorious for suspension slop and wobble. Apparantly the upper rear wishbones on the re-release are stiffer and thicker than the originals so this may be another reason why you are noticing stiffness at the rear of the car. I was wondering if Tamiya would have improved the performance of the front suspension but by the sounds of what you are saying it seems they haven't!

The front end does seem to bounce around a lot - even under mild acceleration and braking it resemebles a yo-yo!

Nevertheless, I'm really impressed with the car. This is my third re-release build (previously completed the Frog and the Grasshopper) and I'm enjoying the chance to build and run these classics

Yep, the only way to fix that is to put the front spring on its hardest setting, but then it stays up all the time. I think it is designed to enhance braking, by scraping along the ground

I never could understand why Tamiya would advertise their different spacers & adjustable spring perches as ways of "stiffening" of "softening" the suspension. All the spacers & adjusters do is alter the ride height. The spring isn't any stiffer or softer than it was before the changes are made. If the suspension seems stiffer, that is only because the spring is preloaded beyond the weight of the car rendering it and the damper pretty much useless.

Basically, if the suspension is constantly bottoming out on the track your running, you need stiffer spirngs.

And if the front end is bobbing up and down like a yo-yo without you hitting the gas & brakes, you need to make the front damper stiffer to control that motion. Of course that will also promote under-steer. Tuning suspension is a balancing act...

That's great news but for those that really wanted one we already got it from somewhere else :D . Don't worry though Stellamodels - I'm just waiting for you to get a specific kit in stock . . . . . (it's got big tires  ).

Hotshot kits are all over Toronto, Canada hobby stores. In my yearly pilgrimage through many of the hobby stores in the GTA, I think I counted 15 total kits. I saw 4 purchased (including my own)!
