When I pulled it out the box bumper first, I thought someone had been messing around and fitted a toy car part to the front with the word TOMY on it! MustangX3 0 Posted May 26, 2007 It's a Tomy Intruder from the early 90's, I just got one myself, i believe they did a couple of models:- Tomy Intruder 'Adonis' - I think this is the lowest spec model, it had an Aluminium chasis and plastic shocks (I think) Tomy Intruder - This had a glass fibre (not carbon fibre) chasis and alloy shocks Tomy Intruder 'EX' - I believe this was a higher spec car than the others but i can't name the differences. The car i just got is a Tomy Intruder but i'm not to sure which model, mine has got carbon fibre chasis (both upper and lower) and carbon fibre shock towers, plus a couple of other upgrades. I am desprately trying to find a Bodyshell, Wing, and Undertray, for mine i think they must be as rare as hens teeth! It seems that there are quite a few body-less intruders! I work as an engineer so i am considering making a mold for the Body, Wing, Undertray then i can vacuum form some new ones for myself and anyone else who needs or wants a new clear unpainted shell for an intruder! The only problem is i dont have a doner body, wing, or undertray to make a mould from If anyone has a body shell, wing, under tray for an Intruder in any condition painted or not and would be willing to lend it or sell it so that i can make a mould please contact me. I have been talking to a place that does vacuum forming and am waiting for a reply to let me know if they can vac-form the parts for me which i'm pretty sure they will be able to do. I'll put you at the top of the list for a new 'Tomy Intruder' bodyshell once i get all parts together. Thanks again. MustangX3 0 Posted June 28, 2007 The 'Tomy Intruder' repro bodyshell's project is gaining momentum! I have been in touch with a company who specialises in plastics and Vacuum Forming they have told me that they will be quite willing to undertake the project and will even make the molds/casts for me! I have also been told that the original body parts will be returned un harmed from the molding process so this is great news. I am looking forward to seeing the first repro 'Intruder' shells. Thanks to both Scoobster who has allready sent me an Undertray, and Grunfuggly who has offered me a bodyshell so that i can get the molds made. I am still in need of a rear wing to complete the set. I am still stuck for a rear wing so if anyone can help out with this final part i would be greatful. If it wasn't for the members of TamiyaClub and other R/C collectors many of these old cars would dissapear forever, with a little bit of teamwork i'm sure pretty much anything could be achieved. gravell rash 0 Posted July 10, 2007 wow i remember these being raced along side yokomo super dog fighters, n schumaccers, they cost an arm and a leg when new, more than your average losi these days, and i always wanted one. but at around 350 - 400 for top model, a bit out of my reach when i was 16 !! any idea how much one would be worth these days ??? I'm not too sure how much they are worth really, like you said i can remember in their day they cost a fortune, and definitely wouldn't have been affordable when i was sixteen! The quality of the car is unsurpassed, its similar in build quality to my old XRAY-T1 which was top class. The Tomy Intruder i have has been uprated with a carbon fiber upper and lower chassis and shock towers, I guess this is quite rare as the standard ones had GRP / Glass fiber chassis parts. Except the 'Tomy Intruder Adonis' which i believe was the budget model and came with plastic shocks an alloy chassis. I did however see an 'Intruder Adonis' NIB for sale on ebay.com (USA) going for $298 thats about 150 (bearing in mind thats the budget model) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
