Using smoke paint on the windows or not is a matter of taste, so you have to decide for yourself, but I think it's preferable to clear windows for most bodies.

I have tried out several makes of smoke paint, and to my opinion, Tamiya PS-31 Smoke is by far the best.

For good results, there are a few things to watch out for:

Don't sand / rub the windows like you do with the rest of the body, as the resulting scratches will normally show even after you have applied the paint.

Before applying the paint, the windows must me very clean, as any dust, fat smears or tape residue will show through the transparent paint. Wipe off the surface with a non-agressive alcohol. I use heptan or hexan, which I buy cheap at the local chemist's. Then remove dust with a moist lintfree cloth, for instance an old towel or dishcloth. M3 makes special wax-impregnated tissues for this purpose too, if you want the professional "tool".

Apply the paint in several light coats, the last a little heavier to ensure a really transparent finish. This of course applies for all types of paints, but for opaque paint, running paint resulting from too thick coats won't show on the outside of the body. For transparent paint it does.

Don't apply the paint when the air is very humide, as a lasting foggy finish will result.
