Current status on the geared diff is that I must get hold of one to have a look at. :D Dr. Rob is helping out with that but we have to fit things in around two busy shedules. Ball diff is now drawn up and prototype parts are being sourced so that'll be the first available.

Hi,

Please put me down for one ball diff and one gear diff.

I have lately started to look at the geared diff of the Kyosho Ultima/Optima. I have one in surplus and will test and measure the limiting factors tonight.

I'm afraid the axles could be to short to fit the gearbox, we will see.

Have attached a picture of it:

I'm in that horrible position where I'm having to wait on others before I can continue. What with that and my main man having broken his fingers lifting a jig! no news yet folks.

BUT.....watch this space, with any luck things will progress quickly once I have some vital components.

Just to let you know, the Ultima Diff does not fit, it is too large in diamater. Have not bothered to check the modul of the teeth, for the width I could probably make it fit, but the diameter is the killer.

Nice try  ....

So I'm looking forward for your diffs...

Still in limbo at the moment. I have a couple of engineering shops that make bits for me, but they fit stuff in around 'real' work.

I'm waiting on prototype bits and I can't pester too much because I don't want to ruin the relationship I've got with these guys. It took me a long time to find people who would even consider making such short runs of parts without charging silly money for them.

I'll keep you posted on progress. :D

Hi.

Been away for a bit. The real world has been getting in the way of fun. This project is not dead, but it has been put on ice for the time being.

Lots of things have been happening in Chris's world; I've had major problems with my email, whilst being on holiday and trying to sort it from a far. I have also has my contract end at work and have been searching (in vain) for another job AND my main engineering man has gone and had a career change and now works for a company making robots which, although I'm sure is very interesting, does not get radio control car part made!!

Anyway, the upshot is that as much as I hate to admit it there are far more important things to sort out at the moment and SRB projects have had to be put on the back burner. They will continue, but at a slower rate of knots so be patient folks I haven't given up. :D

Oh, and I am now officially a student again (which is nice!).....post grad at Oxford from next week!!

Sorry to hear about the problems! Hope it all turns out well.

Suppose you`ll be busy writing your name on your lunch box and clothes tags now,so we`ve all got to wait! (sorry)

I emailed to see if you had a chassis up for grabs Chris..I`ve got a project running around in my head that i wouldnt mind starting.

Yup. and sharpening me pencils and polishing that apple for teacher!

I've got a few chassis left. Message me though the forum 'cos I'm still not convinced that my email is 100%. :D

Hi, I was looking through my Radio Race Car magazine, issue #14, when I saw this (see below) (Review + advert);-

It's the Nodis geared differential for the SRB cars (Rough Rider, Sand Scorcher). I'd love someone to repro. one, like has been talked about here. Any chance? Cherrybomb, I thought you were going to have a go at this eventually?

If the moderators would be so kind as to add it to the Vintage Media section, I would be grateful.

Cheers,

Alistair G.
