Hi all,

Just wondered how most of you run you diffs on the High Lift, I locked the rear diff but of course you lose a lot of steering. I find with this truck you cant help but try to climb over every thing you can find in the garden, so really you need the front locked as well, but this puts so much strain on the truck as you can see the axles twisting on there mounts when you try to steer. Think you can only lock both diffs if your runnig on mud or a loose suface that will let the wheels slip a little. Would be nice to be able to lock the diffs a little easier than having to take the covers off and insert the pin, but I suppose you cant have the best of both worlds, you lock the diffs and climb over almost anything or run them lose and have nice steering, any thoughts??

I usually use my Highlift on road, so i normally have both diffs un locked.

But the truck is so cool to crawl over rough ground too, so for that i lock the rear diff. I've also tried it with both diffs locked, but like you said that setup should only be used on slippery or loose surfaces - with the 4 wheel steering active.

I can lock my rear diff in about a minuit, no matter where i have the truck [:D]

I made a miniture tool box that contains the diff locking pins and hex wrench, and mounted it in my trucks bed.

To make the locking quick, i use the rubber bungs that come with the kit to cover the diff pin access hole - rather than the (ugly in my opinion) silver diff covers - they would take ages to remove.

I keep my rear diff locked 100% and front on occasion.

Use a strong servo, and strong servo saver, notch the axle cases for more turning and you can crank the wheels hard enough to go anywhere.

Love that tool box, I never can find the pins or wrench, so it seems most of us run with the rear diff locked up, I run the silver diff covers on mine so its a bit more work to change over, and there is always a risk of getting dirt in there when changing it over to a locked set up.

I run my rear locked and my front open.  I do a mix of street and off road so thats why I keep the front open.  If i was running strictly on dirt, I would definetly go locked on both.

Its only a thought, but might try some of the grease that I run in the diff of my FG Marder beetle diff, its very sticky, dont know how long it would stay in as there are no seals in the High lift diff, but it might give you more drive plus retain the steering, only a thought.

I run mine off road almost all the time so both diffs are locked. I unlocked the front diff last weekend for a bit of running in the garden but got fed up getting stuck so locked it again.

Mine is used only in the rough, so my dif's are locked front & rear. All I do is check there tightness every couple of runs.

As I keep mine in the mud or on wets rocks my diffs are locked. I have never tried the 4WS since I do not mind backing up in order to get around som obstacles. You have to do that with a 1:1 in the rough as well.
