Well firstly i need to know if anyone is interested in having a on road version on kidderminster !

i have chated to a official from the halifax (west yorkshire) on road track commity and they will be

putting this forward for me , the details at the moment are rather thin on the ground as its all

down to interest from here on tc .

just so you know this event will be next year august bank holiday !

i cannot stress enough this is a on road car event for track use as this is a world class track as

some of you may know !

Now to include people from both on and off road im looking at maybe having a show and shine class

trade stalls including bringing your own stuff to sell !

As far as racing goes keeping it relaxed (more of the kidd approach than serious racing)

vintage, up to date cars tam tech basically if its a on road kit new old or anywhere in the middle

there will be a race for it !

and to give the lads and lasses a chance with the trucks(artics) there will be a chance for them to put some laps in !

All i ask is if you are interested please let me know ! this event will not take place if the interest is not there !

I will definitely be heading back to Halifax for this if it comes together. It's my local track (for the next few weeks) and is an absolutely superb facility. The surface is fantastic - absolutely smooth tarmac and is designed to run everything up to 1/5th gasoline powered models like the FG Grand Prix cars. It's easy to get to (5 minutes from the M62 motorway), there is a Travel Inn about 5 minutes away, I think they have camping facilities at the circuit (there's a big mown field right next to the track) and there's a McDonald's about 3 minute drive away...! There is a Cafe on site, covered rostrum, covered pit area, 240v mains electric, the whole shebang.

As Andy said, it's a world class circuit with a superb surface that obviously cost a lot of money and as such, the owners of the track want to keep it that way. For this reason they do not like having off-roaders on the circuit. I think Andy is trying to wangle something so that buggies can run road tyres and will be able to run, but that is an ongoing discussion. I have a feeling that no matter what tyres you are running, no monster trucks or similar will be allowed to run, so essentially, Lunchbox/Pumpkin or bigger is a no-no. The most we might get away with is Stadium Raider / Blitzer Beetles.

In my eyes, it's about time we had a good on-road meet. Tamiya do make some great on-road cars (come on, they were 1/10 World Champs in 2005 and came 3rd in 2006 - you don't do that with a poor chassis...!). How about this for a few classes... :

- Vintage on-roaders (eg: Countach, 934, 935, RM, Renault, VW Golf etc)

- F1 Cars

- Group C and Pan Cars (eg: Jaguar, Mercedes, Mazda, Street Devil, Daytona Thunder, F40 etc)

- Trucks (eg: Knight Hauler etc)

- On-road stock (eg: TT-01, TA-02, TB-02, TA-04, TA-05 etc with maximum of 27t stock motor)

- On-road modified (eg: TT-01, TA-02, TB-02, TA-04, TA-05 etc with no motor limitation)

- Drift cars (whatever you can get to drift on drift tyres - drifting Knight Haulers...???)

- Tamtech Gear on-road (eg: Vaillant 934, Jaegermeister 934 etc)

I don't want any 'it's too far' replies from UK residents either...! :P I'm flying back from Switzerland to partake and you have got all the time in the World to make sure you get the couple of days off or whatever, so you have no excuse...! To give you an idea of timings, it's about 1h45m from Birmingham and about 3h from Stevenage.

Andy didn't mention this in his post, but this circuit is *VERY* hard to get a slot at, such is the demand (it is completely booked up for the rest of this year) so the sooner we can get support for an event here the better. COME ON...! You know you want to...!

Here's some details of the track... :

Now i would definetly want to go to this meet seen as the track is only a 20min bus journey away from my house.

I would probably bring a king hauler and i should hopefully have a few other cars by then.

Let us know more information about it when you get it.

Thanks

You can count on both myself and Erica, the onroad stuff we have doesnt get enough of an airing. As Wireless says it is a top class track I have raced there a few times with 1/5th cars and bikes and the facilities are top notch too.

Well you can count me and the preston tribe in  I have plenty of under used on road stuff that needs an airing. How are we fixed for nitro on road ?

Nice to see some good support already. Nitro on-road is no problem at all. Basically, any on-road r/c is a go-er. Andy mentioned perhaps some drag races. Could be fun...!

What a superb looking track :(. Any idea (rough ballpark figure) of how much we would be looking at for weekend access to the track and camping on site per person?

I'd be up for this and willing to put down a deposit / pay up front as long as the cost was reasonable (say under 50 quid for the weekend including the camping pitch). For anyone going from the London area according to my TomTom it looks like its just over 200 miles and about 4hrs drive (not taking into account bank holiday traffic!).

Whoever ends up organising it though I would recommend getting payment up front with the condition that if the minimum number of folks don't sign up then the deposits will be refunded. So many times you see people offer to organise / produce things and loads of people say they want in..... sadly a fair few seem to disappear when it comes time to divvy up :P

I'd love the chance to give some of my m-chassis on roaders a run and it would be a nice complement to Kidd (which hopefully will also be on next year as usual).

Sounds Great,

Gives me time to finish the Lamborghini Countach I've been working on for the last year, I'm sure to have a TA-01 & TA-02 finished. Oh and maybe the odd stock TT-01

Cheers

Due to a silly rule that was brought in about off road derived cars in 2000 not being welcome at the track i have looked at moving the event to another venue which is to be annonced shortly !

please keep checking back for details !

Have you thought about approaching the Wrexham track? They have a great onroad track, lots of facilities including an indoor track too and one of the organisers is a TC member.. AdrianJones.

I can see what damage an off roader could cause to the surface, but in the early 90s I raced wide tourers there - basically buggies with a saloon shell

Wrexham clubs site is here http://www.wmcc.info/

I have to say the Wrexham track looks every inch as good from the pictures - are there camping facilities there as well?

I have a couple of tracks in mind which are a little more central to make it fair for everyone ! plus im getting some help and pointers from people who have been in the club/racing enviroment for a while ! as i say please keep looking as i will soon be posting details !

Definately interested with the on road runners I have.

Somewhere central would be gr8 as like kidd it would allow lots of us from both ends and sides of the country to get there in gd time.

Looking forward to more details.
