miramar 4 Posted January 11, 2003 Yes, Sub C cells can be bought separately, but very good soldering skills and a powerful soldering iron are required for good results. Each batterycell has an (overpressure) valve which is sensitive to high temperatures, and if you have a weak soldering iron you will have to heat the cells for a long time for the solder to melt, and the valves will be damaged. A powerful soldering iron will heat the cell very quickly in the small area where the solder goes, and the rest of the cell will not reach high temperatures before you're finished.
