Ello Mate,

I'm just about to take on the same project. I found a bunch of thunder tiger steering linkages for the actual suspension arms, and some slightly smaller types for the sway bars, again made by thunder tiger.

The threaded bar is not the right length (that would just be too easy!!!) but most good diy shops now stack lengths of threaded bar, the really beefy thunder tiger arms are from a 1\8th buggy, so will accept something really strong like m5 or even m6 thread if drilled out, so thats a lot of strengh, and the smaller joints should take m4, which should be enough for their job.

Threaded bar bought this way comes in 1 metre lengths so theres plenty to play with to get your set up just how you want it.

I cant wait to get this chassis more flexible and climbing walls!!! Now I just gotta lift the body and widen the track!

Hope this helps

Cheers

don't use threaded or ready rod it bends to easy

get 3mm rod and run a die over them on the ends after cutting to length

then traxxas maxx or kyosho ball ends work very nice and are cheap in price

mine during mock up, and done

Nice job mate, very flexy!!!

Cant say I agree with you on threaded rod tho', I've used this stuff on several mods i've done, and it only bends after a good hard crunch, which considerin how cheap it is, is still better than something more expensive breaking.

Maybe a good approach would be to go for some threaded rod ( after all, at about 90p a metre you cant go wrong) and get your build adjusted to how you want it, then replace all the bits with solid rod threaded at the ends.

Got the rear suspension sorted on mine, will be starting on the front asap, pics to follow soon.

Cheers all,

John

What I do is thread 1 end of all links and put on a ball link and set up the frame and axles to lay it out, measure cut and thread the second end. I also alwayes err on the long side, you can cut more off but adding....

Well I do know that I've destroyed threaded rod, up to you.

A high lift is very heavy too, so if you run it hard you're going to need it tough enough. I bent rods on clods and TLT crawlers.

Good luck. Shoot us some pictures
