Okay folks, nearly finished my High Lift & MFU Build. Don't have the body (It's out getting painted) so I built it as far as I could. I fired up the truck & WOW that is really soemthing how you hear the ignition start & listen to the idle ! Then as you add throttle the engine sound starts.

Anyway - can someoone please add some "User Tips" for this MFU ? My lights obviously aren't hooked up yet but I'd sure like to know how to "Honk" at least !

or show me a link . The Tamiya site didn't help me much. Here's a pic of what I have so far . . . .. . .

I think I can help here, just finished fitting mine and deciphering the manual for the mfc

The below is assuming you have ALREADY done the training modes

First off make sure the 3 position mode switch on the small control unit is in the middle this is rc and lights and sounds, top is rc only and down is demo mode.

To honk the horn

Push the right hand stick all the way up to the top

Main Beam

Push the right stick almost all the way to the top

Indicators

This took me forever to figure out

Quickly push the right stick to the bottom and return it quickly to mid point then immediately push either left or rigvht and hold it to activate the turn signal

Takes a while to get the timing right but it does work :)

Hazards on and off

Push the gear shift trim all the way to the right and then push the gear shift stick right and realease it, repeat to switch them off.

Light modes

To go thru the lihgt modes on the tx

Push the right hand stick trim to the bottom and pull the right sitck down and release it to go thru the modes, (again takes a while to get timing right, try doing it quickly if you have trouble)

Side light

Dipped beams

Foglights

Off

Cylcles thru the lights as above

To use main beam push right hand stick almost all the way up

Engine on and off from the TX

(this also disables the eletric motor as well as shuts down the engine sound)

Move the gear shift trim all the way to the right, also move the clutch/horn stick trim all the way to the bottom

Now push and hold the gear shift to the right and hold it there, if you hear teh shift noise try again.

Now while still holding the shifter to the right push the clutch/horn stick all the way to the bottom ( I dont think you need to release it, sometimes it works before i have released the stick others it does not), once again timing is the important bit here, play around and you are sure to get it, if it doesnt work return all sticks and trims to neutral and repeat.

Hope the above helps someone out as I found the manual to be not the best which is unusual for Tamiya.

The sound and light unit looks sounds awesome, the vibration unit is pretty smart as well!

BTW

IF you don't have the manual for the training mode I can email you a pdf copy as I have scanned mine in

Thanks for the reply ! Um, "Training Mode " ? Nope, no idea what you are talking about. I don't get the horn sound when I push the right hand stick all the way up either ? What exactly is the "Mode Switching" button used for - how do I know ?

PM sent for the "pdf".

thanks for the great response :o

Training mode is like setting up a regular esc. your teaching the the MFU the endpoints of the radio stick movement.

There is a switch on the MFU unit that changes the sound from v8 to "spunky " four cylinder

I've emailed a copy of the manual off

I've also worked out how to switch the engine sound on and off from the Tx so I'll add that into my original post above when I get home this evening. (ok added that in now)

I might just write out a whole user guide/document for the MFC from Tx training through to operation as I know it can be explained in much more of a simple fashion than that of the poorly executed manual.

I tried out the 'spunky' turbo engine sound last night

Don't bother, just don't, it sounds plain wrong B)
