hi all wanting to fit a role cage on my high lift and on a land rover shell i have fitted on my xc. what materials are best and how do i construct on, advice and pictures would be great.

Well no picture sorry - but I would look at using tubeular aluminium or steel section and bend the lateral parts down the side of the car - before adding cross braces for the horizontal parts moulded on the cars lines - e.g. roof edges.

I would however watch out for the weight and use bolts/screws over any glue as this would make it easier to remove and alter or to repair a section if it gets damaged.

I you want to make a really heavy duty roll cage then go for stainless steel. You can iether weld it (mig or tig) or you can braze it. If you want more info onthis method go to rccrawler.com and look in the tech section.

Or if you want somthing just for show the use plastic rod. You can bend it buy heating it with a hair dryer and the quench the part in water to make it hold its shape. you can then just glue it all together or screw some parts together so it easyer to remove. Hope this helps.
