Hi all!!!

Got a new MB from ebay!(**** you ebay!!!) :)

Thinking of putting bigger/wider tyres on it...

Any suggestions for prep it up before?

What tyres do you suggest?

Want chrome wheels on it as well...

So, what do I need?

Bigger motor?

Cooling system for motor?

ESC or MSC?

Thanks for help!!!

Ballraces without question (I assume you would do this anyway) and an ESC, I see no reason to use an MSC these days unless it's for originality.

If you want to use larger diameter tyres, be careful of the gear ratios.

Remember the MB is down to a 10T pinion already, think about using a high torque motor, maybe with slightly lower rpm to offset the higher gear ratio from larger tyres.

Also there will be higher forces on the suspension arms, steering etc.

The rear swingarm pivots may need reinforcing to prevent them twisting, I think it was Mymonsterbeetleisbroken who had some hopup bushes for the swingarms to help with this.

As for tyres & wheels, I've not used anything other than standard ones, so I can't really suggest anything, sorry.

Hope this helps, even just a little.

Cheers, Russ.

Looks like that MB's got Marui Big Bear wheels and tyres. Those a quite soft and wouldnt be great for running without adding foam inserts.

I'm not sure what tyres are wider and taller than stock monster beetle ones. Proline Moabs are taller, but i think the width is the same as stock. Imex make good after market tyres. I know their old claw dawgs are wider, but they are not as tall as stock tyres.

Definatly fit CRP's old rear suspension pivot supports, and rear shock chassis mounts.

Aluminium front suspension arms (H parts) would work really well, but they are quite hard to find nowdays.

For it to be bullet proof with big wheels, you really would need a thorp transmission, or at least tamiyas current re release frog drive shafts - or better still the frog universal hop up shafts.

It should look sweet with bigger wheels :)
