Hiya all

Im a tamiya man at heart, but i just picked up a kyosho zx5 to start racing again.

i will be driving on short grass track, fairly simple layout, nothing to technical, sml jumps etc,

any advice on set up would be great, as my last race cars were vintage tamiya, n kyosho ultima pro !! and much more simple to set up. i could do with tips on which diff set up, shock posittions, are best to keep things neutral while i get used to the car, and give me a predictable ride.

I will be using a 15x2 method r sv2 motor, gp nimh stick packs to start with.

Soooo guys n gals, any tips or sugestions would be very very welcome.

cheers. :)

I can't help you with that specific grass track setup, as all tracks around (here in germany) are hard packed dirt. I find the ZX5 very easy to setup, as it reacts very clear on every change I made. I started with stock setup including some advice from oOple. I run the car with rear diff and front one-way. When I had continuous lap times on my favourite track I started to play with camber settings, shock positions and different shock oil (now 40wt front and 35wt rear). Springs are still stock, no need to change yet. The biggest improve I made was to change caster-angle from 7 to 10. I get around corners much quicker now.

Oh, what tires do you run? Don't mess with damper position and the other stuff until you have very good tires for your track (e.g Proline Holeshot for hard packed dirt). They make 80% of a good car setup!

cheers

Thanks for that, i do need some more tyres, as iv only got med compound mini pins at the mo, and some soft indoor sets .

will invest shortly.

otherwise il use trial and error as a steep learning curve (like most people i guess).
