ive just brought a cheap manta ray rolling chassis of ebay its got no motor i was wondering what would be a good motor to put in it i want it fast but not hard to control fast :rolleyes:

Any of the Tamiya RZ, TZ or BZ motors are great in terms of speed and value for money. You'll need an ESC that can handle a 23 turn motor though.

ive got a novak esc not sure if that'll handle it though im a nood to all this but if uve got any makes or names for what motors or parts i should look out for it would be a real big help.... :rolleyes:

I would have thought your Novak ESC will handle a 23 turn motor but best check though. If you don't have the instructions that came with it then try finding out online or ask here. As far as your Manta Ray is concerned I would stick to either of the motors I mentioned above or use Tamiya's Dirt Tuned or Sport Tuned motors (which your ESC should definitely handle) I had a Sport Tuned motor in my Dirt Thrasher (which is a Manta Ray with a different body) and it was quick enough, I also got decent battery run times)

Remember the lower the turn of motor the faster your buggy will run but the down side of that is you will have less run time out of your battery. So if you put a 17 turn motor in your buggy instead of a 27 turn Sport Tuned one you'll have a lot more speed but also a bit less time playing with it.

I used a Superstock TZ in mine as its a good all rounder with good Torque and lasts a long time. I love my Manta Ray, its a great car! Its really tough, Ive thrown it around so much!

Check out this;

I use it a lot when looking for motors. Ive also got Dyna Storm special, which is nice and fast, but I prefer running the TZ as it seems to have a lot more torque and doesnt run out the battery as quick.

Hi not to sure on pinion size as im a newbie but might i recomend that if you break any drive shafts, replace them with the ones off a twin detonator, there alot stronger although you wont break the stock ones unless you drive like me :rolleyes:
