As you may all know its very hard to tell the difference between a 48 pitch and 0.6 metric module gears. I'm trying to figure it once and for all: when did Kyosho change their spur gears to 48 pitch? I know that the Optima Mid had 0.6 module and so did the Lazer ZX, but does the Lazer ZX-R spur has the metric or imperial spur?

Good question! I think they sporadically used 48 pitch as "upgrades" for racing. As far as I know, they always used metric pitch gears. 0.8 and 32 pitch are nearly identical so they can be used interchangibly. This is what I remember most Kyosho's coming with as standard.

By the way, there are formulas out there for calculating the pitch/module if you really can't visually tell the difference between the two. I think all you need is the tooth count and gear diameter.

Kyosho changed to 48dp spurs with the Triumph 100 tooth spur, which was used in the Lazer ZX-R and later models, prior to the Triumph all Kyosho spurs were metric.

BTW if you raced a Kyosho in 4wd and an RC10 in 2wd it's amazing how quickly you learn how to tell the difference between the two sizes.
