Hi all, I'm really keen to try my hand at racing on carpet and realise that probably the most important part of a cars setup (or thereabouts) are the tyres....

Any recomendatiosn?......its for a 1/10th TT-01.....

Thanks in advance

Its quite a personal thing really, at our club there is a split between foam tyres and rubber tyres. I think the best advice is to go to your local club and see what most people are running there.

Foam tyres?

I was gonna opt for slicks with soft inserts but as you say it may pay to observe what the popular choices are on this particular track....

I have only been running on carpet for 1 year, but everybody here uses rubber tires with the mini pins on them. Except for F1 or 1/12, they use foam tires.

The foam tires need more work and learning though - additives, heating, come into play.

I believe the mini pins come in different softness grades. I used 2 sets all season, so I like that cost effectiveness!

But as everyone says, find out what the others are using at your track.

Let us know how you go! :(

Most at our club run slick rubber tyres of a soft compound its amazing the amount of grip they get, actually getting tyre squeel in some corners.

Depends on what your local club runs. Personally I use foams, additive full width rear and half width front and there is more grip than you would ever need.

For rubbers the best are LRP VTEC 24s, also sold as Nosram VTEC 24.

They give the most grip and seem to last for weeks before the handling starts to go off.

Carpet Dragons are my favorite with my TA05.

Sorry, forgot to add that the mini pin tires are of course on the buggy!

The touring car racers use rubber slicks, I believe one type is called "take off 22" or v similar.

when im racing at neston on carpet i use CS 22's for the first 2 heats then i switch to vtec 27's for the last heat then the final,as the grip comes up during the night i make the switch to the harder tyre to prevent grip roll,i switched from foams as it was costing me a small fortune,i used trc blues(36 shore i think) or jaco blues(rare as hen's teeth) grp 35'sare good as well.

best to ask at the local club to see what everyone one is using then make a start from there.
