Does anyone know how to setup the diamond bit of this lathe? There was a paper in the box but in my point of view it doesnt show a unique way for installing the diamond bit. Very confusing for me. There is a signature on the diamond bit and perhaps this the right way for orientation? If I sit in front of the lathe as I would use it where should the signature face to? Down, up, right o left?

Perhaps somone has a pic from a close point of view?

kind regards

If you post some pics of everything, perhaps I can help you.

From what I can gather from this pic:

Assuming the armature is spinning as though it would roll away from you, the bit should be installed & shimmed so the cutting point is perfectly in-line or just barely above the centerline of the commutator. If the bit is directional it should point down & towards the right. If it's not directional, it should just point down. Your cut should be made starting at the left and slowly working your way to the right & then back again. Make sure to coat the surface of the comm with a black sharpie (for lubrication) before each cut.
