On a side note, what is the best white paint to use on rubber tires - TS, PS or the X brush type?

Hibernaculum recommended to me that he has tried a lot of methods and the only one that gave excellent results was the Sharpie Poster Paint Pen . I myself had previously tried white Humbrol Enamel paint which was awful and turned yellow . So I took his advice and bought 2 of the pens. I have taken a photo' of one, below.

Cheers,

Hi, a little while ago I ordered some of the TS paints TS8 and TS16 from a HK seller on Ebay called empire.rc and it took quite a while to get here but it did actually turn up, and they are certainly still NOT available in stock anywhere in UK even now, as I checked on this a week or so ago.

Any news on when I will be able to buy them from UK shops? Spring 2010 perhaps?

Best Regards,

Alistair G.

Well my Tamiya # 81040 250ml X20A Acrylic Thinner turned up today from HK from ToyEast on Ebay , and I was interested to see that in 2007 (sound familiar?!) they changed the label on it (see the scans below where I compare new with old bottle). So they seem to find it easy to change the label. So how come I heard that this was a "labelling issue"? Something about this whole thing doesn't add up. Anyway this stuff is still NOT available anywhere in the UK that I could find.

This stuff is I believe 70 per cent IPA ( also called Rubbing Alcohol , sometimes called Surgical Spirit , the cheap grade that you get a lot of in the UK) and 25 per cent distilled water and a few additives. I did prior to today try various local Chemists for Isopropyl Alcohol ( IPA , IsoPropanol ) only to find that over the past 4 years they had now turned into Pharmacy 's and now do not sell IPA anymore because it's "dangerous isn't it" So I went on Ebay and found a 250ml bottle of IPA , 99.9 percent purity for 3.50 including free postage.

I don't really understand why X20A was withdrawn in UK as there can't be anything "toxic" in it as such (well of course it will kill you if you drink it LOL) ? Somehow I don't think we'll ever see this stuff back in UK shops since they already changed the label once in 2007 and they can't repace the contents with something that is non flammable as it has to be an alcohol to thin the paint...

Is there any news when the TS paint is coming back to UK shops? I of course gave up with the UK a while back and got my TS8 and TS16 from Ebay sellers in HK...

In the pic's below, the old one is the one with the 4.50 GBP ModelZone price label on it, and the new one is the one with the 2007 written on the back of it. Sorry for putting the IPA label over the top of the old one, that's where I put my IPA in it!

Cheers,

Alistair G.

Desperate to get hold on a TS17 and TS26 spary cans - any help in tracking these down in the UK would be gratefully appreciated.

There's a can of TS17 on Ebay USA from waldorfrccom and a can of TS26 from empire.rc on Ebay from HK (that's the seller I got my TS8 and TS16 from and I am in UK).

As for UK shops you can forget it I tried TS17 on a web search and noone has any.

Does anyone have any news about the re-release (LOL) of these TS paints?

I just got an email from Wonderland offering pre-order on Tamiya spray paints?! Their website says they will be available on April 1st - is it just some sort of early april fools joke? :( Anyone got any more information?

They were always going to be coming back - I believe the issue was only on the labellling of the cans.

So it's likely right, but if you're in any doubt you can always phone them.

Strange I went into a local pharmacy about a month ago and got a 500ml bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol for £6.99

I'd been having 'disc read errors' on my PS2 and read a fix for it which involved cleaning the laser lense with IPA

When I went in the pharmacy and asked for IPA the assitant even said to me 'cassette heads or PS2 laser problem??'

Best thing is I needed 2 cotton buds worth of it but they don't sell anything less than 500ml bottles!!

Oh well never mind it certainly gives a kick to JD and coke!! :)

It was in Boots that I got the woman telling me it was "dangerous" :) The rest of my local Chemists did not have any "but used to sell it" so I call them Pharmacies now as a Chemist is someone who sells Chemicals LOL.

You may want to rephrase that last comment about the kick to drinks in case any children read this and get the wrong idea. IPA is NOT for human consumption and can kill you. Usual disclaimer.

BTW is there any word on us getting the TS sprays back in the UK now that we are into a new year?

Yes just as Alistair says

DO NOT DRINK ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL OR ADD IT TO ANYOTHER DRINK,IT WILL KILL YOU

The last part of my post about 'giving a kick to JD and coke' was meant in a humourous way and in no way was it factual!!

I don't drink anyway!!

I just happened to have a word with Fusion Hobbies today when ordering some Frog bits and thought I would check up on the status of the TS paints in UK. Joanne tells me that ;-

"TS paints have STILL not been released :-( I keep badgering the Hobby Company, however they still do not have confirmed delivery dates."

As mentioned, you can always get it from Germany or do what I did and get it from Ebay from Hong Kong. Air mail from HK worked a treat.
