Took my bessie out the other day having sorted her out and making her run like a dream.......after about 15 minutes smoke starts appearing from underneath the shell and the ESC has burnt out where the power lead meets the unit.......Its (or was) a MTronik Evo20 running a Venom 21d motor (with a 22t pinion and 58t spur) running on a 4300Mah battery......should this have happened, the ESC apparently can take 20 turn motors and I'm assuming the Venom is 21 turn......

If its not one thing its another hey........

Mtroniks has the best after sales service around. Contact them explaining what has happened and if it is fairly new they will replace it for free. Even if it is old they will usually replace it with a newer model for a small fee.

hmm another Mtroniks case again....

i use to have a Mtroniks RV15 running with tamiya BZ motor (23T) and it burned as well.

15T esc VS 23T motor, BURN! WTH!

i've stopped using Mtroniks as i'm not going to risk buring my car again.

right now i'm using the Futaba 330CR with my BZ and has been well every run.

sorry about your case.

there are many good esc around like LRP, novak.

LOL! My brother used his TEU-101BK ESC (Sport Tuned 27T limit) with my TZ motor (23T) for a while in his Lunchbox. We would get about 15-20 minutes of off-roading before it would thermal and shut down. Never had any problems with fire though, and we ran about 10 3300mah packs through the car with that setup in HOT Las Vegas weather.

I would seriously consider switching brands if this happened to me (and another TC member).

Ummm this isnt an upgrade fee though is it, the RV15 forward/reverse are only $38.95 US new online. Surely they are just selling you a new ESC?
