Making some photos to my recently finished FAV. This is what bad weather has, I got time to finish most of my open projects. More to follow.

That's awesome. It would look great in on an F1 chassis if you could make the head fit the normally proportioned body!

Today I had a tidy up, way too many parts which were floating around and I couldn't remember why I'd bought them...

That is fantastic IBIFTKH. Great one of the f1 world champion (even though rosberg thinks he's the best because when the championship was over he won 3 races lol!)

I think I'll have to buy one of these from you sometime. I've got one unpainted willy driver for my wt01 monster beetle project which I've had for about 8 months. I'm scared of messing it up!

Thanks guys. Terz1, I know what you mean. I've got a Knight Customs cast-resin Moto Willy figure that I bought maybe 2 years ago, that I haven't touched because I'm scared of it!

Looking good,

Give it a go Terz, they're not that dear, what's the worse that can happen. You can always take it back too. My Wild Senna has been taken back to bare plastic twice now as I haven't been happy with the results.

Terminator Willy still needs some tidying up to the good side of his face, especially the eye, and some helmet work but for now he looks okay for display. Nothing seems to ever be finished, I keep going back and revisiting things either making them better or worse and starting again!!! All part of the fun I guess, but what else to do in winter?!

 I think you're right nito nothing is ever finished. I'm always going back to things, changing my mind, changing my mind back again, lol. It's all part of the hobby I suppose.

I used to do the lead games workshop figures when I was a kid and at the time I thought they weren't good enough. I found them again recently and I thought wow they look great. I think we can beat ourselves up sometimes trying to get perfection when it's impossible.

I've thought of an easy colour scheme. Albino stig wild willy  . Two black dots for the eyes and he's done. Seriously though I think I'll use him to experiment and get back into the swing of figure painting again. Even if he's not going to be used in any of my rc's.

My Louise road wheels arrived last week. Not sure what I'm going to use them on yet, but I fancied some to see what they were like.

Stuck them on my GF-01 to see if it was too much :D

It looks crazy cool! B)

Omg the egress looks even better!

The egress looks like it's the brother of one of nitos monster hornets. You'll see if he pops them on here. Fantastic!

I went to see a back specialist (technically yesterday) who has confirmed post MRI that I have a herniated/ruptured L5/S1 disc which is pressing on my nerve. Been in differing degrees of pain for a year and although that was my self diagnosis you live in hope, but when you see it confirmed on the scan it rams home that I I'm going to need to make some changes to my life. Most of my other hobbies are a no no now. There'll be a few 1:1 toys up for sale :( . To operate, or not to operate? that is the question! Looks like I'll be confined to life as a modeller lol!

Oh boy, that's pretty serious buddy :( What ever choice you make, pain free is best for me. Take care.

Oh dear I'm really sorry to hear about this. I didn't get to read it as the topic went to a new page so I missed it. I had a slipped disc a couple of years back. I hope you can recover from this as I know how it can be. I recovered 100% so I hope you can too. I don't know the different degrees of this condition but I went from not being able to drive or even put my shoes on to the level I was before the accident. Fingers crossed things turn out as well as they did for me.

Thanks chaps.

Terz how long did you have it for before making a full recovery? Mine will be a year so far on the 23rd Dec. The scan shows the ruptured material is right on the nerve, every now and then I'll do something which will put me into 2 weeks of agony. Then it subsides a bit. There is a noticeable amount of wear to 3-4 other discs also but nothing of any major significance except the next disc up, L4, which has a small amount of protrusion. We're leaving it 2-3 months more before considering the surgical route which I'm keen to avoid. It just depends on what degree of normality I can enjoy by taking preventative measures, now that it's confirmed exactly what it is,

After the past 12 months I've come to know the sorts of things that will trigger nerve pain/aggravate it. Go Karting and jet skiing is a definite no no, motorbikes is dubious, I haven't really been up to using them much this year, track car is totally out of the question, just taking it for its MOT left me ruined, basically anything that involves any vertical shock loading to the back is out, even my daily drive pick up truck is probably best re-thought as the leaf spring rear suspension can be quite bumpy/bouncy. As a petrolhead I'm a little stuffed. I Can't pick the kids up anymore either or lift much weight which is all very frustrating as the 'man' of the house, makes you feel somewhat impotent, fortunately not in that sense yet lol!

I haven't been as active with the 1:1 stuff for a couple of years (mainly down to time) but I wasn't quite ready to move on yet. I'm not sure whether to sell it all or wait for a while, even if I have the op though, I don't want to encourage another problem again and according to the specialist, once ruptured it'll never be anywhere near as strong again. Working on the core muscles in the back can help compensate a bit so that is what I'll be aiming to do.

Cheers

Nito

Mate, I feel for you. I've been there too and I'd offer some advice. Do what the docs suggest, accept the limitations now and don't push too hard.

I crushed the same disc 15 years ago - on the MRI you could see it pushing into and actually bending the nerve. I was only 30 or so, so they tried everything to avoid surgery. In hindsight that was a mistake. Eventually surgery was the only option but we waited too long and it did too much damage. Now I have to use a wheelchair to go out, can't drive much and the amount of painkillers I go through is frightening.

So please, don't try to tough it out. Talk to your specialist and follow his advice. Talk to him about your prognosis - long term as well as short term. If or when he says surgery is the best option, well they pay these folks a lot because they know what they're talking about. Back surgery is not fun and it takes a few months to recover, but if it gives you the best chance long-term...

And yes, look at your life style. It may mean that you give up some of the things you enjoy. But believe me, it's better than the alternative.

Take care of yourself,

Rob
