Got a new Futaba S3004 servo today for the MSC on my Fox and hopefully Crash's stuff comes in the mail today.

Put my 1/72 die cast F-8 Crusader on eBay last night and it already has a bid in it for a lot more than I paid for it. This is cool since the auction has six more days and a dozen watchers. This is to pay for my next project, either a Bigwig or Hotshot. Still can't decide at this point.

Are you building a Stratos?  If so I'm curious if the M.Rage's front shock towers are too tall for the low profile nose of the HPI body.

I used to run the body on a Vaterra Kemora (now Losi Mini Rally), but knew ultimately I'd buy a Cup Racer for the IFS setup.

The MRage's shock tower is almost same place as front wheels and is just a tad taller than the wheels. So it should work.

Haha unfortunately it is me who does the cleaning and dinner etc. -> Tony Danza

I was meant to have tomorrow to myself (public holiday) to get some rc and 1:1 projects done. Grandma was meant to have my daughter (for the first time) but has moved the goal posts so to speak so now it is just daddy daycare tomorrow. Gutted is not the word... :(

I am lucky on that front, my son loves coming along with me to anything rc related. Spent the last 2 weekends at the tracks deciding whether racing onroad or offroad is the way to go.

Today though, fitted the new 13.5T motor in a tt02b (he came to a mates with me, wife happy and i got to mick around with rc cars all day), need to sort gearing now...this hobby is neverending...

had a play with my vac former and did a test pull on a mk1 ford escort body with 1 mm Polystrene, with a rough trim and fit to a TA02 chassis. Not too bad overall, will try some 1 mm ABS soon.

You can't beat a Mk1 Escort with Bubble arches, not even a Mk2 with Forrest arches.. but it comes close ;)

I was just thinking I'd like to get a Mk3 Escort XR3i done in grey ( I only had a Mk4 XR3i), that boxy shape was awesome!

I couldn't recall the Mk3 or Mk 4 Escorts, but a quick google and I think thats what we called the Ford Laser in Australia, but I only remember them as a hatch. Sedans might have been the Ford Meteor. Its the early ones I like, and in Australia we also had a panel van version of the Mk 2, with bubble windows at the rear.

We didn't even have them in NZ mk3 & 4 .

overall it went well, and I can see some adjustments I need to do to the vac former. There was still a bit of webbing, but I was able to cut it away.

Haven't tried the Cortina or Mk 2 yet, I want to get ABS in 1 mm forming with detail first and maybe 2 mm ABS. At least ABS will be ok for a runner, don't know how I'll go with 1 mm polycarbonate though.

I'll also cast the bodies in hydrostone so they are more sturdy. I'll try fitting the grille this week. I've made it too thick, but otherwise it should fit ok.

nice, I found a model of one on the 3dwarehouse -> https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=c3a6b58a4ca4a9bfa1b543d55837199

so at least you have a chance of 3D printing one

That Escort is lovely. I have a retro racing (I think) shell I bought a couple years ago and haven't done anything with. You carry on encouraging me to make it my next project!

cheers, that one I have is a copy of the retro racing one. I've copied it basically to cut up and add in detail. Also, the originals are made in PETG so are prone to shattering on impact. As I want to run mine, I was looking to copy it in either ABS or polycarbonate.

The Retro Racing bodies can't be painted with lexan paint because this affects the material someone told me a few years back. Maybe this makes the Retro Racing bodies brittle? Are these bodies still available? They looked nice.

I hear ya cristam, sounds like you need a mini plant greenhouse for your spray booth. I shot some red on a bakery rack to touch up where I had hacked it in half and the driveway won't be the same again, until I pressure wash it. :o

NOW, onto that MK1 Escort, you get that thing ready and all the Fast and Furious folks will be all over it since there is one in that franchise from a couple of movies ago. I think it really sucks that Ford never gave us that awesome bit of kit in the USA, we didn't get an Escort until the very late 70's early 80's and it was a boxy bit of trash that was not appealing to me at all, makes a Honda of the same era look so much more curvy and sexy, bit like Jessica Rabbit vs Olive Oil, but then that is my opinion now isn't it. I hope you can make these affordably enough that folks over on this side of the pond can buy one from you.

Started my CW01 Unimog yesterday.  Got it as far as this today but then life got in the way so it's back on the 'to be finished' pile.

thanks for reminding me, that was the issue. From my understanding  PETG has about 70% of the strength of polycarbonate but where polycarbonate is more likely to deform, PETG will tend to shatter (anyone please correct me if I am wrong). However PETG will form with more detail which is maybe why he chose that material.  Only complaint I'd make is that Retro Racing doesn't seem to list the material he uses, but apart from that he's done an awesome job in getting detail into the bodies

Retro racing is still selling his bodies on eBay - http://www.ebay.com/sch/retroracingoy/m.html?item=182440026286&hash=item2a7a45e0ae%3Ag%3AkjIAAOSwGvhUCil7&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

at some stage I plan on selling any bodies I make, but don't want to ( and can't on here anyway) sell straight copies.  Biggest issue I think I will have is freight though, doesn't seem to be cheap out of Australia :(

Dangit all, I hope the bits I ordered don't take forever either. Just got my first of two Hong Kong orders and it was a little lackluster, 2 Tamiya guidebooks simply inserted into a bubble pack with some hard bits and plastic sprues to boot, not impressed, but in a few days I hope to see what the repro Toyota Hilux tires look like and feel like as I ordered those a few days after the first order from another seller. Fingers crossed and now to wait on the parts coming from the great white north and Delaware to put back together my "simple" runner after I discovered the TL01 chassis I have had here for ages had a rightly nackered front gearbox, so I THREW THAT OUT, I can't beleive I say that I THREW SOMETHING AWAY, but I did it and now to start fresh with a new chassis, oh and new gears as those were toast too.
