Prepared 3 MadBulls for sale to a very keen dad who is so re leaved to have got three matching cars for his kids before the big day at less than half price on new ones, all fully fettled with ESC's from someone who knows what they are doing.

Also bought on auction a third Traxxas Stampede (slowly changing the family basher fleet from Tamiya to Traxxas) so will have WT-01's available if anyone is interested?

Done a bit more assembly on my boys King Yellow.

Got the shocks built and mounted along with the steering mechanism and servo. Just going for front wheel steering to begin with.

Next job is to mount the rest of the electrics.

Worked on TA01 differentials.

Bad Horsie Diff grease was used.  For buggies, this stuff is just about perfect.

A lot stiffer than AW grease, but weaker than diff putties could get.

I suppose a small amount of diff putties could achieve the same effect.

Prepped the HB817 for my first nitro race meet which starts tomorrow. My club is running the Counties Cup which is over 3 days. This is what I bought the car for but due to circumstance I haven't actually raced it yet, so first race is going to be in a 3 day meet where 118 buggies are entered. Not intimidating at all...

Got to charge batteries tonight, 2 for the starter and my rx pack, should really buy a second rx pack.

Also missed out on a Futaba 6K tonight. It was being sold on a $1 reserve auction because of a LHS fire. I missed out by $3, but of course bid $20 higher than I really wanted to pay. Hoping for a Spektrum DX6 which finishes tomorrow night.

I was holding out for the Rock Socker CR01 tonight, but it ended up going for $390 which isn't much under what you could get a new one for.

Its funny what is being paid for stuff that survived a fire. The 6K looked like new in the photos and was about a third of retail price, but they had a 6L which sold for 2/3 of retail which is crazy given it survived a fire. Not surprised the CR01 went for a lot, there was a Neo Scorcher with a ruinf box (so what happened to it in the fire) at silly money a few days ago

I was a bit hopeful because yesterday an XB Dump Truck GF01 went for only $150.  I kept an eye on some of the other auctions and most of them were bought up by the same bidder, who was spending thousands.  He got both 1/14th scale trucks, the CR01 and a couple of others, so I guess he's reselling them somewhere.

They listed an XB Porsche RSR today so there might be more kits coming at least.

What did the 1/14th trucks go for? I purposely didn't watch them as I sort of want one...

So today I tested the Lunchy with a OCDAY 9T Combo 4370kV is listed. But could

it be a smaller rotor in a 540can??

on a LRP 5000mAh NiMh here is its behavier. :)

it is me filming and driving with one hand, on this kind of terrain wheelies arent so often especially with the heavy NiMh.

(Watch out, 3D, stone chips coming at you 🍿)

Yep, I said that like 24 times...

I once lamented that, but now I'm just glad I didn't say it 100 times.  It's all about perspective.

Finished off the chassis build of the King Yellow. Just the body to trim and sticker now - thankfully I don't need to mask and paint it.

I watched them just in case they went cheap, because then I'd have to buy one on principle. They ended up going for $500 and $580.  I'm not sure of the exact differences between the two, maybe one had an LED kit.  They were a decent amount cheaper than what some places sell them for here but not much less than ordering from overseas.

Its also still quite a lot of money even if its cheaper. I have started showing my wife pictures of the scale trucks...

Spent the day at the track running my HB D817. Great day out. The event is huge, 118 entries so there was a queue to get on the track all day. Unfortunately my idle was set too low so I stalled twice which usually wouldn't be a problem on a practice day but today it was as I lost my spot. Instead of 7 tabks I got through 5 and a bit which is still a decent amount of track time, about an hour.

They listed another Man TGX truck today.  Pre-painted French blue so that saves you money for a can of paint right off the bat.  You could try telling her that being on sale and pre-painted means at this point it'd be criminal for you not to buy one.

In reality, I think the truck is just the thin end of the wedge no matter how much you pay for one.  By the time you've got a trailer, lights, accessories and the multi-function unit... I hate to think what it could add up to.

I know people spend up to $2000 on a scale truck. Dont they come with thr MFC? I always thought they did. I would prefer a tank which cost silly money too. The main thing that appeals aboutna truck is having gears. I don't understand why the trailers  cost so much either, they seem crazy money given they (i assume) just get pulled along. I would struggle with a trailer, I can't back one in real life to save myself, it would be sad failing in 1/14th scale as well

Yeah, I don't get it either - why they're so expensive? I also assumed they all came with MFC's and lights but apparently they come with neither?!? So it's not clear to me where the money goes. Also, the trailers, exactly, why are they 2/3 of the cost of the whole truck???

I do like how they look but I think you'd be lucky for get away with NZ$2000 if you wanted a fully functioning one, perhaps NZ$3500 which is just plain stupid. You'd have more fun with a semi-professional drone for that money.

Woah $3,500! You could get an 8th buggy that could win the worlds and have change!

Just missed another auction, this time for a Spektrum DX6 with 4 rx. I can get a Flysky i6 with 4 rx for $110, didn't seem worth paying 50% more for a secondhand spektrum. I know I'm going to regret this and wish i had bought the Futaba last night...

Interested in how that turned out, it is definately all about fun and racing.

I contacted today, a ex-dealer of Tamiya, it was a licensed Tamiya store in croatia a few years ago.

he still has in stock onroad, offroad and m chassis from the years 2002-2007

so I am awaiting a list of cars he has, something I would point out is... a TA05 Ferrari FXX, a M03 Mini Cooper (blue and white), a M04L VW Beettle. Variouse TT01 chassis with shells that havent been seen in a while, like the Esso Toyota Supra or VW Golf V GTI ...

also interested in the offroad cars he has, in my collection I am missing a rally car. I see myself buying a TT01 with a nice shell to convert it to a rally car after new year.. or ih he has a Zaahak, a easy deal.. also to mention they are all NIB.

if people agree, I will post the list with Tamiya codes in the sales section, maybe someone is missing some models from the years 2002-2007 or there may be something interesting.

prices are also retail like back in the day, no false vintage value added. I am excited to see the list...

Trimmed the King Yellow body, then reamed the holes for the body posts.

this was today and the last week or so, managed to do a bit more to my Ford Escort Mk2 build. I wanted the engine bay to be a bit more realistic, so I removed the TA02 shock mount and fabricated a bracket for the upper suspension arm and modified the engine bay to take the top of the shocks. I also made a quick and dirty roll cage from drinking straws. I am terrible at measuring and I since I want to make the roll cage in brass tubing and not waste a whole, this will help me set it out.
