Still no battery adapter so I cannot run my TRX.

I pulled the body out the box. It is nice and thick and well finished

 

It will still be vulnerable to my driving so I started on the cricket tape. Still a couple of hours to go...

I changed my df02 alu shock tower in front with the kit

plastic one. The alu one broke last time

skate park bashing, also the brushless is niw in the LB, this will be a 2s silver can runner.

Finished the cricket tape on the TRX shell. It should not get a lot of hits crawling but worth the effort up front.

Have you used the tape on its own to reinforce the whole shell? I take it that works pretty well since you've gone to tue trouble of doing it. I wonder how it compares to shoogoo with fibreglass drywall tape which I have used. Your way sounds less messy and lighter

Not 100% coverage but most of it. Double on hit points like the front corners.

It works well on my other bashers. The tape is not very stretchy so needs cutting to go around multi bend corners. It looks grubby after a while as well as dust sticks to the edges but that’s better than a split in the shell.

Re spraying the Pumpkin. Made a little Autoclave from an old box and heater, works a treat baking the paint. Went for BMW sparkling graphite which I'll lacquer as well. Just need to get some plastic card and thin strips of balsa to make and varnish a new rear deck. It's kinda holey with all the mounts cut off!

My DF02 now as runner status, installed a old servo I had laying around. This must be the 4th of 5th setup in this car.

Had a lunchtime tear around in the local park. Dampers now have lighter oil - 300cst rear and 400cst front and it's handling much nicer on the rough ground in the cold. Just popped the rear shocks to the inner hole on the arms for a little more ground clearance and happy days. First time in a while I have really enjoyed driving it instead of worrying about some handling issue to try and solve. Really is lovely to drive when it's working well. Very nice.

With the gearset coming in today, I finally finished the Blazing Star that came in as a roller.

It has been stripped down completely, cleaned, and fully upgraded with:
- Tamiya 47373 Hard propellor shaft and aluminium motor mount.
- 17Tx2 motor, 1060 ESC, MG996R servo and receiver.
- 19T steel pinion.
- TA-02 full plastic gear set in the rear
- metal steering rack.
- Ball bearings.

Only missing the servo saver at this point, a servo horn takes its place for now.

Hopefully, there will be a dry day this weekend, so it can take its first break-in spin.

Cracked on fitting the high speed gear set to the WT01,pulled out some bearings out of the parts stock and set about fitting optima mid shocks.

Turns out it's fully ballraced with some awesome diff grease too 😀

Eyelet holes are too big in the shocks, need to dig out some bushing.

Snuck the latest purchase into the garage before it was spotted by the other half 😂 Poor little GF01 sat with the big boys totally unaware of what’s being planned for it!

Finished off rebuilding my boys Christmas Super Hotshot.

I say finished, I need to find a couple of screws and attach the drivers head (when I decide I've given up on painting it).

Is the Super Hotshot steering supposed to be so rubbish?

Just holding the car in the air and operating the steering results in one wheel hardly moving and the other moving what seems to be too much.

I ask because I dug out my Lancia Rally today, and in the interest of using some easier-to-find wheels and tires, I began searching for alternatives. A touring car-type wheel and those tires (and/or ones from the Tamiya Honda CR-V) might look better than just standard touring car wheels and tires:

Sort of like an Aqroshot?

It definitely needs larger-diameter tires. I did hear that the new Tamiya TT-01E truck tires fit M-chassis wheels perfectly, and that the resulting 70 mm diameter will fill these wheel arches better...

Otherwise, it comes down to 3D-printing new wheels and tires(!), since original parts are both scarce and ludicrously expensive.

Shocks on, 7mm wide hexes fitted and a test fit of the FTX wheels, elecs , tyres and a shell, then she's good to go! 🤔

Those Blazing Star wheels are 1.9" crawler size. Pretty random.

They are touring car wheels - the Blazing star uses the Toyota Celica 50522 wheels:

I’m really intrigued by this project, this was previously my families go to Basher! 

The top half is still with Nobbi who has an ongoing project which is equally intriguing 👍

installed the V3 front body mounts on my DF02 to fit the DT02 Nissan Titan body, the last body posts broke with the front alu shock towe.

this part for the body mounts used is from a Carson CH4 nitro model, so very hard plastic, Tamiya realted also... it is a perfect fit, a did to be honest sand it a bit to get a nice fit.

also the rising storm shell will beused a dust cover.

 

went for drive last night, unfortunately I had to notice, my problem I have with the DF02 seems to be in the front differential, need to take it a part one day. it is crunching.. also I have noticed I am missing the spur ring...
