I 'down graded' my Bearhawk back to brushed. I think I went too far with the brushless in it and spoiled the car a bit. So in an effort to get it feeling right I swapped it for a silver can, ESC and a 2s lipo. With the discharge rate of lipo it's actually quite capable and feels much better. That said perhaps a sport tuned isn't too far away.

Yes that's my old shell... which was your old shell... and now it's Max's... like the circle of life this eh :)

I decided to part with it as it was too nice to use and was sitting in a box under the stairs which was a waste.

I find it interesting seeing different people's takes on which hop-ups are important. I look forward to seeing how the build develops.

My MF-01X now features an alloy motor mount:

I chose the GPM one as it was available in silver to match the steel propshaft and other alloy fittings on the car.

It was a trouble-free fit, with no tolerance issues compared to the stock Tamiya plastics.

Went with my buddy to our “track” and tested the FF03 for the first time.

First that I have noticed, the sound of the ball diff, I might be allergic to that kind of sound. Just joking, but I would be less  worried with a gear diff. Never less, the 8T tamiya TBLM is I am sure the same motor and esc as the older Carson Shooter SL sistem. I happen to have the Carson 10T and Tamiya 8T. 10T is rated at 3800kV and the 8T at 4750kV.

lots of power on the FF03. I tried for our conditions very hard inserts in the fron slicks and rear soft. Grat handling, after one bettery back I already got a flat.

Here is a video where the tire popped. The gps showed 54km/h.

Continued on pit shimizu soft slicks.

Lots of rubber and green paint all over the chassis.

I love this chassis. Havent had something Tamiya as new and modern as this. Can imagine now, how good a XV01 could be. Won today against my driving buddy with his TB04 but only due to some techincal problems apperently. :)

My M04 build has stalled at about 90% of the chassis complete.

With another m chassis incoming, I dug out some dampers for a clean and rebuild

Turns out two of them had no oil in them at all so the pistons have damaged the ‘cups’ at the top of the reservoir. Nicely dented. I have no idea who made these or whether I can get spares!!

Put my 3 gear layback tokgether over breakfast, but I have got a few things wrong. Compared to the prototype I did for Ken reith I pushed the motor as far back as I could, but didn't get the clearances quite right.

TRF211 TRF201XR/XM/XMW 3 gear layback conversion by CTE RC on ShapewaysTRF211 TRF201XR/XM/XMW 3 gear layback conversion by CTE RC on Shapeways

The spur is very very close to the rear axle and whilst it clears, the suspension wishbone catches it before full travel. For some reason despite using the same tolerances as always the bearing bores were super tight and needed lots of fettling.

Back to the drawing board, although I think I will just go for a 3 gear stand up design and have done with it. I want a more rearward weighting for traction. All part of the fun I suppose!

Changed the servo saver on my runner Top-Force, and found out that the front damper stay was broken so had to changed it too.

Went with my TB04 buddy again to our track aince we both were amazed how the FF03 performs with the 8T motor.

here is a short view how the track looks like, my friend who owns a tb04 is driving my Xray to get a feel for the new layout.

and here is a video of me and my Honda :D just look how proud it goes.

Great fun today. I gave my buddy to run also my cars as his TB04 has stripped the rear diff pinion. Probably low fdr and to powerful sensorless motor. Not to forget it is a badword of shimming for the gearbox I believe.

Finished my Hotshot. I couldn't help but modify it just a tiny little bit. Roll on summer and trips to the beach!

@Fabia130vRS Holy cow that little Honda is FAST!

Glad someone noticed I thought the VTEC kicked into my head :D

the cars were a mess after today.

so a nice clean was mandatory.

Also the tires had some cool rubber dust all over them.

Haven seen such rubber except on racing motorcycle tires in summer. :)

And the clean cars.

I like to spray a little bit of cockpit spray over the chassis and blow it out with air again. It leaves a nice shine and smell like inside a real car :)

Just ordered a re-re Egress and Savox low profile servo.

That probably makes sense to most of you, now I just need to convince my wife it was a good idea.

Fitted the cockpit today and tbh what a faf. So the only shell i can use it on is the mk2 escort shell as the wrc escort and the m3 has the window stickers on them and i can't use it on the pontiac trans-am shell for obvious reasons. But i like the results:wub:
