Got some small budget onmy paypal account.

I went to order my pit shimizu tires I have been using for a couple of months now, no# 0425, they were on clearance on Banzaihobby, but only 1pair, paid 1 pair of 0425 with shipping 4$.

ended up ordering a pair od 0776 from rcmart and front pair of foam F103 zen tires for my f103LM.

now waiting...

Oh dear... I promised myself I'd take a break from RC stuff this spring, but it turns out I can't help myself:

i-gx3Nwpk-XL.jpg

photo. You know what these are...

Yes, I'm missing my SRB fix, and [having sold the Fro-Sco] realised I need a Beetle in my life after all.

It won't be a quick build - more a project for Jack Willy to have on axle stands in a diorama for a while - but ultimately the idea is to build a Class 5 uber-Scorcher!

Wish me luck!

Jenny x

edit. having screwed things together earlier today [with the spare hardware I have], I realised I should have ordered the screw bag A too - I'm missing those four little ball-joints for the steering knuckles, darn it!

Mangere Bridge.... Now that's a spin out for me !  I lived in Hillsborough for a while and crossed that bridge every day, working in Manukau.  I was the only Aussie that anyone had ever met (if they had not been to Australia)... so my nickname of course was  "Aussie"  B)

How about - "The J Gillham Perpetual Trophy for Continued Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to Radio Control Buggies of Mangare Bridge and Surrounds Trophy"

Haha of course, how long ago was that when an Aussie was rare? Pretty much every accent and race is in Auckland now which means we have great restaurants!

You are good at naming trophies, would never have come up with that

...Started to remove the brushless 6.5t system from my egress to refit with a BZ and 1080 combo.

Tried the brushless set up last night and it's far too much, so I'll stick that in my Cat K2 and enjoy it properly!

Fitted a set of 'bashing' wheels and tyres to my egress, looks better than the standard wheels to me, but that could be sacrilege to some!20190327_201738.thumb.jpg.7310944c189adf7fdd0c68b23f0e9042.jpg

That egress looks amazing! @nellyle

this evenings work saw my King Blackfoot get stripped so I could make sure the previous owner had greased the gearbox. They had. Credit to them their assembly was spot on. It was worth the effort for my peace of mind. Plus I swapped the external metal sheilded bearings for some rubber sealed ones. The noise whist running I thought was the gearbox was probably from to the plants all wound round the rear axles

Decided to give the cockpit of the Escort Cosworth a quick revamp, I think the gloss painted drivers offended me most!  - Before & After below;

Finished painting the headless body of my ongoing Orange Striker restoration... I last had this out during the heatwave last year... maybe that's why I stalled this project as it was too hot but it's nearing completion now 🤓

1997

I lived and worked there for 8 months and only met one other Aussie in that time so having the Aussie accent back then was a real novelty.

I’m playing around with with and tyre options on my Sand Scorcher, I’ve only got as far as working out that I don’t like the Brat/Ranger wheel set so far.

Stripped the spare clod chassis down for parts. I'm not going to use the chassis itself as it has damage on the suspension mounting points.

Wanted to mount the new pinions to silvercans to put into the Dual Hunter, but the new pinions need M4 screws instead of M3... aaaah.

Diverted a package from delivery to my house to pick-up at the collection point, so the wife is not triggered that I bought more stuff....
Going to collect it this evening or tomorrow, and I also believe the brushless set has arrived there too so dual goodies for me! :)

This is for Monday but I took my Lunchbox to the beach and had a great time!

mrsMKGL.jpg

One thing that genuinely shocked me was how cool the motor was after a lengthy bashing session.

I KNOW these things have pretty low gearing and I KNOW they aren't anywhere near as heavy as they look but even so, I'm used to pretty much any brushed vehicle getting hot after a long run, especially in sand! The motor in the Luncbox was barely lukewarm though! What kind of sorcery is going on here? It was a 20T motor too so not like it was the stock silver can.

My Grasshopper gets way hotter with a brushed 540 in it, I know it has higher gearing but it has much smaller wheels and weighs less too.

Even my brushless stuff gets quite hot after a beach run so I just cannot figure out how this was so cool? I suppose the gearing is all it can be really. Probably why my DT01 gets a lot hotter running the same size wheels.

Anyways, it's nice to have a brushed vehicle where motor temps aren't a concern even running in sand!

Ran this little beauty in lush sunshine this lunchtime

Tamiya Grasshopper2 Ultra G by CTE RC

I know I say this evertime I run it, but it's just so good! Running on my spare black wheels because I thought my neon super G wheels were terminally buckled, but having seen these ones wobble too I think it's a bent axle. Which is a result because it means I can put my rad retro wheels back on! Also side note : if you run a buggy on grass get some Schumacher full spikes. Even compared to mini spikes they are so much gripper.

Modded the new JCONCEPTS GMC Body for the Bullhead..... which now looks more like a Clod..... and the more I mod it I guess it will soon be a Mod Clod?? Whatever that is?!

Luckliy I had some "scale" items from years back I never used.... roll bars, hand rails, Jerry can and a fire extinguisher.... I need to start my own thread on the Bullhead in the Monster Truck section so I know where I am with it ;p

Me and my driving buddy went to our man cave and had some fun.

he bought a rc racing lot. A Team Associated TC6.1 with lots of parts and a 3racing setup station. I immediately brought over my cars to have a look at te setup as we did not own a station until now.

The hobby space was started starting to get a bit crowded, so as much as I love the Boxes they are now up in the attic, seeing them stacked up gave me an idea of how the room is going to be re-decorated when the time comes :D

VtbgQLW.jpg

Also had an idea for a Beach Runner....

I missed out on a Honda City Turbo last night for the shelf, I bid too early and was beaten in the closing moments.

However I have decided on the Super Champ wheel tyre combo for my Sand Scorcher for when it is on display and the RR JR’s and 915’s for running which uses parts I have in stock 👍

Picked up the 3100KV brushless set, and installed it in basherbear (HSP chassis 4WD) with a 20T pinion.

r4nbWUa.jpg

Charges a 3S lipo and took it outside. Turn on and punched the throttle......

INSTANT 720 degrees cartwheel send the car flying! Wow.... this motor set is quite something different from a brushed set. :o
It's blindingly fast! Will even lift the front wheels from half speed punched to full. Top speed no idea. I think 50 or 60kph which is a lot for a monstertruck. And the sound it makes is amazing.

Next upgrade... Wheely bars! And run it on 2S until then. ^_^ And replace 2 body clips that got lost. And glue the rear if the bodyshell which got cracked from scraping due to wheelies.

Started putting the decals on my Hornet body.  So far so good, but the striped decals that run towards the rear of the body are pretty tricky.  Heat gun to warm them helped a lot though.
