Made literally the worst looking DIY sand tyres with the help of a bike inner tube nd super glue from Poundland. They mainly looked bad because I completely failed to make them anywhere near straight, symmetrical or uniform but managed to glue my fingers together dozens of times!

To my amazement though, they work really well! Not quite as good as proper paddles but infinitely better than standard tyres. The "paddles" aren't directional or scooped and of course have no rigid structure but when the wheel speed gets up a bit, the centrifugal force keeps them straight and you get some pretty decent bite. I was going up sand dunes etc that I couldn't get anywhere close to with the stock tyres.

Almost (got to do the rear light clusters and the little fella is drying) Finished off my monster beetle black  edition really liking the finished car but then anything tamiya and beetle is a winning formula in my eye but I did forget how much cleaning of the parts when you take them off the sprues!

Seconded! Really clever I'm looking at all my old tubes in a very different light now 😉

Now knowing a bit more about ‘tinning’ before soldering and higher wattage soldering irons I changed the Tamiya plug to XT60. Also discovered that XT60 plugs are a heck of a lot easier to solder wires to than Deans plugs.

Soldering is now a very pleasant experience 👍🏻

No there not from MCI although I think they do tyre decals and probably good quality aswell! I got these ones from Ebay the seller had 3 sets I've looked since then and he's not selling anything but to be honest mate they are good but not very good because they don't stick very well at all (basically just stickers) but I got these transfers from Ebay much better but seriously need patient's to put on because I had to take each letter at a time with tweezers but a lot stronger finish!👍 sorry about the picture upside down ( no idea what happened there🤔)

It’ll happen @jonboy1 I promise 👍

Had to work Saturday and then drive to Wales and back on Sunday, hopefully next weekend is a little more Tamiya friendly 😆

Got myself another project from a well known auction site. Been looking at these for a while, put a cheeky bid in and nobody else bid. 😀

while in the process of moving all my RC gear out of the house, I had to leave yesterdays load in the car during the day, knowing that inside the car would warm a little in the sun. But is the second day of spring here, how hot could it get? so thinking would be alright. Unfortunately my 3D printed Ford Escort shell didn't take too kindly to the trapped heat.

The car body was on its side at the time. The doors etc were also slightly warped

Made a 2nd rear bumper for the Clod. To hopefully offer a little more protection when things get crazy. I'm still unsure why Tamiya never gave the Clod a proper wheelie bar. The thing lives on it's back wheels.

finally decided on a color and livery for my Sand Scorcher.  Started applying decals today.

I also tried searching a missing dogbone that came out of my Frog yesterday.  No luck.

Had a right royal mix about with all my electrics...

Radiant Reaktor brushless set up taken out of Couger Kr and put in the Lunchbox where it formally resided to run the Core Lipo which fits. The Tble-02 taken out of said Lunchbox and put into the TT-02B with the Torque tuned motor. Finally the Hobbywing 10bl60 and Speed Passion 13.5 that was in the TT-02B put into the Couger Kr...

So the Lunchbox is back to being way over powered and hilarious, the TT-02B has more usable speed and the Couger has a speedo which best suits its quality, especially braking wise.

In other news also fitted the Pro Transmission to the Cat XLS, not entirely sure it's worth it but I had burnt out the diff in the spur of the original transmission so we'll see.

I just keep wrestling with the urge to buy more models, the bay of plenty is very tempting 🤪

Resist the urge for a ‘cheeky bid’. It was my downfall yesterday and now I have yet another car coming :(

If it was arrives as it was in the pictures it will be a bit of a bargain though :D
