Having almost tripped over my nephew's cars once too often, I decided it would be safer for all concerned if they moved off the floor and onto the shelves with my fleet.

2020-03-20_11-01-13

(His are the two blue ones behind my orange Arta Garaiya.)

I also fitted a new alloy steering rack to my DF-02 to replace the one I messed up while trying to remove a broken ball connector the other week.

2020-03-20_11-02-05

This time rather than brass balls, I have used alloy ball nuts on steel shafts where it connects to each tierod, and a steel ball and shaft on the servo connection where it bears the strain from both front wheels. Hopefully they won't break, and if they do, they should be easier to remove than the standard brass ball connectors with integral shafts.

The chassis is looking pretty good now I think, with its new black screws to replace the aged grey stock self tappers, blue alloy ball connectors and fresh adjusters on the turnbuckles, and a Bluebottle.

2020-03-20_11-01-57

With my DT-02 having received a Bluebottle upgrade not long ago, and having gone from a capable but somewhat dull car to a really lively and enjoyable one as a result, I thought it only fair to give its 4WD sibling the same treatment.

I was hoping to have it ready for the last pre-lockdown RHW meeting, but the steering rack didn't quite make it here on time, so it will have to wait until after the Coronapocalypse for its next track outing. Here it is all ready to go:

I drooled over the latest MST release - a new J4 Suzuki Jimny bodyshell for the 242mm wheelbase, to be released in Q3 2020 (hopefully). I'm not sure if it's lexan or hardbody, but I love these new J4 Jimnys, having been lucky enough to spend a fair bit of time with them.

what! you're not meant to eat cat food? :D

Just stick to the chicken or meat varieties as the fishy ones tend to give you smelly breath and stink the house out.
But they do give a nice shiny coat though. 😉

Finished reassembling (except shocks) my TA04 (complete thorough clean & refresh of all parts). Next is shocks, then electrics. Then I take it for a run!

Drove my wife down to her office so she could pick up what needed to set up smart-working from home.

While waiting, I figured out how to create gif images on my phone, these are my first results

I really like your Manta Ray. And I am at least a little bit jealous for your snow. I am located in the middle of Germany and years ago we had at least a few weeks snow every winter. But that seems to be over. The last two winters I didn't even need the shovel for one day.

Cool GIFs by the way.

Ran my FF03, RR-03RA and Thunder Dragon in the street. Was fun because there's hardly any cars parked and hardly any traffic. I found my buggy street tyres so thought i would try them to get the thunder dragon running outside the house. It maked a very good road car!

Also painted and stickered my Saint Dragon shell tlfor Ultra G. Not massively impressed with the MCI neon yellow, but it's the right idea

Started my Tamico edition Porsche 934 (no 267 of 333)

Was going to keep it nib for future value but sod it im hardly ever going to be likely to retire before im at least 150 years old. By the time we are finished paying our way out of the corona shambles money wont have any value and we will be driving around the desert in spike covered cars and trucks and gyro copters fighting for fuel.

I acquired this thing this morning - a Lazer ZX ripe for a resto. Not going full box art though - mostly as I hate the shell. She'll get a modified LWB Mid one instead, once I've rebuilt it and jiggled everything around.

The motor and ESC were *very* tired - I opened up the ESC (Tekin TSC411p, Tekin fans) to find loads of sawdust (!), cleaned it up and replaced the positive leads.

Next was the motor. Stripped it down, admired the glorious purpleness, asked some of the good folk on Facebook about it, determined it's a Trinity Epic reverse wind, probably a 19t. Gave it a clean, reassembled it (for now - I'll sort brushes later). Powered it up and everything works. Pow. Next comes the car. Needs some new shock mounts, and reconverting back into a buggy from a touring/rally car (it came with a Kyosho Escort shell). Onward!

@Aerobert Thank you. Running rc cars is one of the best things you can do with all this snow, unless you are skiing or snowboarding (but having grown up near in the Alps I tend to be a bit snobby of these tiny hills with overpriced ski stations that we have here and rather hike).

I lived most of my life in Europe so I know what you mean: where there used to be a little snow, now there's none  global warming IS happening, if you ask me.

@Superluminal true, but this year Spring is already on it's way! The snow is melting big time and the groundhogs came out early, and they don't lie along with the farmers almanac :D so maybe for once we'll get a couple months of pleasant weather before the summer, when usually the moment you thaw you are already roasting at +30°C.

I agree, that's pretty much the scenario I imagine, except we'll all find enough scrap material so that those spike covered cars will  be nothing less than a 1:1 scale version of our favourite Tamiyas, ghetto-built one by one by the owner (it will take more than a few PSpaint cans for the shells). That way, us tamiyaclub fanatics will have a head start in the post-coronapocalyptic world.

Great day for RC!  With the covid mess we are encouraged to only go out when necessary, so today the kids and I charged some batteries and ran the TRX4 (ended with stripped servo or servo horn), Monster Beetle (ended with popped CV), Novafox (lost a wing bolt).  Monster Beetle and Novafox are easy fixes.  Need to diagnose the TRX-4 still.  Good time in otherwise stressful times so well worth it!!

Stay safe out there. Are yours contactless?  I saw one bus at my Mum’s yesterday (I stood at the bottom of the garden, her in the doorway) and there was only the driver on it.

Started out yesterday with a regular black DX4s opening the case to repair the D/R wheel, where the axle had snapped. Ended up with this today.

All of a sudden I miss my TA04R which I modified too before passing it on to my son (he was 8 years old at that time). Fun car to drive and very responsive.
