Finally decided it was time to “fix” the track on my TL01 Mustang notch back. A 200mm body on a 190mm chassis doesn’t fit perfectly, so wider hex’s and barrel/tube nuts and much better outcome

Before:

Needed to open up the hole in the rim to allow the tube nuts to fit

And the end results:

Picked up my framed boxes today, a blatant ripoff of @Re-Bugged 's work.

20200711_141020 20200711_141044 20200711_135909

I'm really happy with how they turned out and my wife thinks they're great too, although she thinks the Novafox, Super Astute and Top Force go together and the Boomerang and Monster Beetle should be on their own, when really there are 2 pairs and a Monster Beetle right?

The next argument is with my son over which go in his room and which in my office.

Excellent framing Mr @Jonathon Gillham the best blatant ripoff I’ve ever seen 😉 They all tie in together perfectly.

I hope they don’t cause to much trouble deciding who gets what. I believe you will have a Lunchbox box to frame soon to won’t you.

Wow, can I copy you and @Re-Bugged too?  What was the cost?

Copy away my friend and anyone else that wishes to as well.
I’m actually quite flattered that people think something I did is worthy of being replicated 😁

Mine was done at cost, well out of the framing materials I had in my workshop at the time.

Off the top of my head if I was to do for a customer then it would be around the A$250ish

D2714483-CCD3-48D2-9421-5C0E5569FEBE.md.

Price will vary according to mat boards, moulding used and size.

We may need to so we have 3 pairs, despite what my wife says.

I'm pretty sure I can't protect an idea I stole from someone else...mine were NZD173 each from a framing shop, so they made them to fit, UV glass etc. I literally sent them a picture of @Re-Bugged that I stole from this forum and they maatched it, then changed it a bit to get the cost down, his ones are flasher

Thats pretty much what their quote was, but by swapping the 2 mat boards to 1 with a black core, and using thinner frame it knocked quite a bit off the price, especially when I got 5!

I sent a pic to a mate and he is pretty keen to get his done too, you've started something here

Like all Marui buggies, I find the Samurai truly gorgeous. It sweats '80s from every pore

Did Marui make some good lookin' buggies or what? That's a beautiful example you have there!

@Jonathon Gillham your framed boxes are beautiful, must be an absolute treat once up on the wall!

@Re-Bugged great idea you had, mate! Consider this, we live in a world where car brands copyright their engine sounds and actresses copyright their butts, so you should maybe trade mark your idea and frames before Tamiya gets there!

I can already picture the description on the stapled hop-up cardboard... "Tamiya box framing set", a kit that includes glass, inner cardboard and framing with pre-cut slots, outer framing and of course the specifically made scissors for cutting the box art, all sporting the Tamiya logo, the whole thing for only 450 AUD :D

Yes, Marui had style alright, from the Big Bear on I don't think there's any buggy from that brand that I don't like.

I think Marui really hit the jackpot with the Samurai-Ninja-Shogun triad. I lost count of how many auctions I have lost for a Shogun! ...but still hope to be able to find one someday. The Ninja is also gorgeous looking. Those three cars are so '80s they'd blow Nintendo pixels from their exausts, if they had one.

Speaking of boxes, the Shogun boasts the best box-art ever IMHO, I think it would look out of control when incapsulated in one of @Re-Bugged 's frames.

Got new (shorter) dampers on the trail rig and the wheels back on.

Still sitting too high for my liking.

Sooo... today I had my first whoops.. the Avante met the monster beetle, wheel to wheel but really, really slow.. then lost LH steering control. Opened up the body to find this (see pic) Can anyone tell me if this is deliberately the weakest link? If I make or get a metal replacement would whatever caused this failure make something more expensive break?

Thanks all.

Installed a YR solid axle part in my TT01 to try some drifting..

And realized the paint job I did on the RX 7 shell matches the Tamiya toolset perfectly! Bonus!

Took the plastic film and window masks off the tomahawk after painting yesterday.  Went for PS30 brilliant blue in the end.

I finished the restoration of my Ligier JS9 CS.

I have to send out a big thanks to @Purple_Rob for sending me his original decal sheet, i dont like using repros if i can help it, and as it was, no one is making any of these.

I'm missing one of the brass body mounts, but i will fit this when i find one.

I made a start on the Monster Beetle body today.  First I attached the nose and then set about sanding the moulding lines away.
