jupitertwo 1484 Posted July 30, 2020 (edited) Finished the Yaris body this evening it’s not going to win any concourse prizes, but it still looks cool to me. I hesitated putting the Quattro body back on the XV01 after this, it really does look the part. Might have to look at some alternate sticker sets, or try to do a lot of it via masking instead. Now to look for some rims. edit - yes, I realise now I have the wing mirrors in the wrong place Edited July 30, 2020 by jupitertwo Comment
lsear2905 1279 Posted July 31, 2020 It was a gorgeous winter's day yesterday so I extended my outdoor micro-crawler course. I collected another load of smaller rocks & stones on Wednesday night, so yesterday I cleaned those and filled in some additional areas. I also brought home 5 wooden pallets from work on Wednesday night, so I got out the circular saw and cut those up - some of the leftovers made the "floating" shelf in the pics, but all the short pieces (approx 50+) are going to be used to create a rope bridge and possibly a spiral staircase... these lockdowns are really getting the creative juices flowing! In Tamiya specific news, I repaired the old Konghead body (it was torn where the exhaust "stacks" are attached to the body) and I've made the decision that when I build the new one I'll keep the old body and sell it off with the new (unpainted) one.

I know I've been away for a while but £150+ for a built mini kit seems a bit steep. Don't get me started on ford escort bodies. Gonna have to get my M03 finished lol

Gonna have to get my M03 finished lol All down to supply vs demand, there’s been a lot of people being paid to sit at home lately, spare cash + boredom + internet = toy shopping. A lot of stock has been shifted with not much to replace it, shops here have put around 30% more on what was being charged for the same thing pre-Covid.

It will likely be much harder / costly to buy a replacement for the one you sell in future. Cracks and chips off easily.

ChrisRx718 4470 Posted July 31, 2020 Spannering on the FF03 box of bits. Got quite far, nothing missing yet. Wish I had bought some more ball stud connectors!
Busdriver 6209 Posted July 31, 2020 Strictly speaking not today but as Ive had a migraine for the last 2 1/2 days its as near as I could get. I deceided now that my modelling space was basically finished i should try and finish some unfinished projects. So back off the shelf came the 2 TT02 rally cars. The RS200 is on the T chassis and apart from the rear spoiler is done. So I cut out the Metro body to fit to the S. Looks ok. Just need to sort out body mounts. Both of these will run on Torque tuned motors as I dont want them too fast, that way I can use them in the garden. I will have to play around with the gearing as I cannot remember for the life of me what is in each one. The Metro is going to be in a non real Clubman style colour and stickers
xzenonuk 79 Posted July 31, 2020 well my old sand viper over ten year old has been over heating in this weather on its 17 turn brushed motor, finally changed it from a 17 tooth alloy pinion to a 15 tooth steel one, noticeably a bit slower but so is the heat build up on 2s

I added some to a monster beetle, for this you have to chop off most of the front ones, the one’s I’m working on now are for a sand scorcher (now a practice shell which I’ll use as a runner because I’ve stuffed some bits up) So I’ll need to order another set...

Badcrumble 4203 Posted July 31, 2020 Started trimming the sump guard and side guards for the M05-RA. @Finnsllc, you weren't joking! Slow going, I'm 90% there - stopped before I got tired and made a mistake.
Killajb 1546 Posted July 31, 2020 finished the color coat on my Blackfoot (Bluefoot) and mounted a King Blackfoot roll bar. I'll take the chrome bits off and add some layers of clear spray today. Won't be ready until my transmission braces, and chrome plastic wheels arrive in the mail so I'll baby it until then.

I like them A LOT. Specially the fact that it's ABS that you can fix to the body! About a decade ago I've made my way to some custom solution, with trash, mind you. Because the fit is a little gappy and I didn’t have any gel type glue I dissolved some abs shavings in liquid cement to make a paste it fills the gaps and gives you time to move them into position, takes several days to set properly but basically sets as strong as the parent parts with good flexibility. I used this too to paint over some filler I’d used which Ive found had a tendency to crack.
