Quick question, will changing the size of the pinion gear effect the sound/pitch of the gears moving? I’ve gone from a 20t to a 22t...

Assuming that you have the correct pitch pinion with the mesh set correctly, the sound shouldn't change significantly.

However if you have altered the ratio by going for a larger pinion as in this case, the rest of the drivetrain will be spinning faster than before, so the drivetrain sound will be higher in pitch and possibly also slightly louder. The motor will also be working a bit harder, so might make a different sound.

So, in summary, small sound changes are normal and expected, big ones may indicate a problem with pitch or mesh.

I have another clue about what my new vehicle is - it's twin motor... any guesses yet?

I was thinking Overlander or Mighty Bull, both being XB only with no kit version, but then realised that they are on the 2WD single motor WT-01 platform rather than the twin motor WR-01.

Any more clues?

Apologies. I just saw the shiny bit from the light reflection, and assumed it was a missed bit of overspray film.

Another option instead of decals is to trim the overspray film around the arch and spray the outside with ps paint, then use ps matte clear or semi gloss clear and pull the rest of the overspray film off the body.

Regardless, the landy looks great! 😎

There is no overspray film and my thoughts are that I may trim the wheel arches off and fit an aftermarket set

What a great gift @yogi-bear! I ordered the Jaguar set this morning, intending it to be a Christmas present for my Dad (he’s a Jag fan) to play with my son. I got the Quattro too. I’d been unsure about the GT-R but seeing it ‘in the brick’ I think I’d like that too!

Back to Tamiya, my son and I had a garden bash with a Dual Hunter and modded Hornet this morning. Simple fun!

I've had a TT02-S for a while but was never happy with any of the bodies I put on it. Then whilst browsing Tamico one night I came across the pre painted (Gunmetal) Raikiri body set. Something clicked and it was on its way. Had to buy a set of TT02 mounts as all mine were just wrong even when I played around with extensions. Fortunately Jadlam had the set for just over £10, however It now means that I have a lot of TT02 buggy suspension parts. . Cut it out and started the stickers today. I'm really pleased with it. Its not a body that I have often seen but I think it will look good when finished. I'm going to do it street style without any real sponser logos or racing numbers.

Did try it with Protoform VTA wheels and tyres as well. Not sure which I prefer

I think the TT02-S ones will probably win.

Whilst playing with wheels and tires I came up with these!!

Well the GF01 with x2 Yeah Racing spur gears does actually work, only with 22t pinion, it is ludicrously fast and will wheelie at silly speed, get it wrong and it will cartwheel dozens of times.

The problem is that it is too tight and too noisy, going to pull apart the chassis again and change the gears back to normal and revert back to the 20t pinion.

This is for last night. I took the Neo frog out for a rare drive with normal rear tyres and not sand paddles.

I enjoyed it a lot. It understeers a little but otherwise I find it drives really well for such an affordable buggy. It's pretty much box standard apart from the motor/esc and silly rear wing. I think I paid around £65 for it from Tamico last year. Great value.

They look like the front shafts from a Traxxas Stampede (or Rustler).

The Bandit got a run yesterday afternoon/evening (it desperately needs new rear tires) but today - something a little different. My wife found a new spot to walk the dogs less than 2km from home (we're legally required to exercise within 5km of our homes at the moment) and I never knew it was there!! It's fantastic, wide dirt paths, tall gum trees and best of all almost no people... which meant I was back there a couple of hours later to go for a quiet walk, just me and my UDR!

They do! I've been thinking about where they looked familiar!

Jealous of the UDR... I wanted one for a while, then I kept hearing of breakages etc so looked at the losi SBR.. (which is $1299 vs $1700 for a UDR) but I ended up buying neither unfortunately.

The Jag was a good build too, some of the detailing is pretty clever the way they have done it. I too have the Quattro and the Ferrari (probably my favourite out of all of them).

You have the Tributo? A friend of mine said it was a good build. Another one that didn’t inspire me from the box art! I’ll put it on my list, I try and pick them up when I see them discounted...or just about to be retired!

Fitted the cheapo GoolRC 23T motors to my Nikko truck. The motors are much more obvious after the 540 conversion so I thought something a little prettier would be nice. I wanted a small speed boost too so I was going to get 27T assuming they would be a bit more sprightly than 27t silver cans but then I remembered @Juggular saying that when he got 21T versions they were actually a little slower than a sport tuned motor so I decided to get 23T ones and they seem perfect, a noticeable improvement over the silver cans but nothing silly. About as much as the chassis should be asked to handle I think....for now lol.

Took it out for a drive and the top speed is a bit faster but the acceleration is noticeably better too which I wasn't expecting to be so obvious. Took it a little easy as the brushes were still sparking away as they bedded in but I'm not going to be doing water break ins with £6 motors lol.

Bit of drift practice today

A0-B12-E28-C7-CF-459-C-9-B6-A-756-B3-E45

Knowing little about what I’m doing technique wise, I think I actually prefer the 50:50 to the RWD. With the gyro on the RWD it almost seems easy. Get a nice circle going, and just minor tweaks and it goes round. Not to sure if the MST has too little grip tbh, if that’s a thing. Doing figure of a 8s was a little trickier, but still quite tight.

The 50:50 TT02 on the other hand, is much more of a hoot. Sure I don’t think it’d do well on a track, but it requires a lot more energy to do things, an the slides look a lot more impressive :D Takes up a lot more space, so I’d imagine doing trains or what not takes a lot more skill or setup.

I did try taking the gyro off the RWD, certainly noticeable, so I didn’t leave it like that for long.

Pulled my 6 year old boy on his go kart.

Well, actually, I didn't, his 8year old brother pulled him with the 6wd clodbuster.

@yogi-bear & @Badcrumble - the Lego Audi Quattro is the Speed Champions set to get - we have all of them and it's the only one with the correct length:width ratio. When you line them all up it's instantly noticeable, and now my previous favourite (the classic 911) looks way too thin. Also, being an 80's Audi, the Lego works particularly well (brick-ish aerodynamics are easier to replicate).

@TurnipJF it won't work with one of my Traxxas controllers...

@berman the UDR was a bargain - I picked it up for AUD$600 (used) and it's been pretty solid. I have a trick with any Traxxas vehicle to make them more reliable: If it's rated for 3S, run it on 2S, rated for 6S, run it on 4S and 8S, run it on 6S. Think of Traxxas' claims like Mercedes F1's qualifying "party" mode - if you ran it for more than a few minutes the car would blow up.

@lsear2905 I had a Slash Ultimate LCG, a Stampede 4X4 VXL and a 2wd Raptor LCG Protrac with a Castle combo before, so well aware of Traxxas' brash claims, hence why I sold them all and kept the brushed stampede. I like that they have finally decided to do scale rc. Hence my interest in the UDR.

It would be advisable to steer clear of the UDR.  They are very delicate, come with a terrible servo, all plastic, and only fits Traxxas' lousy batteries.  The Losi counterpart is a far better truck.  It is virtually indestructible and accepts the batteries you already have.

Havent been able to do anything about RC in the last couple of months, on my last speed run try to hit my buddys 113kmh records, while mine is with the FF03 at 107kmh. I managed to crash it into a wall with full speed even thought I tried to brake and it seems the pinion ate the spur.

so the rear left arm fell out, the motor moved to back... the esc wire to transmitter tore apart.

finished and working now.

I completely disagree. It fits 2 standard hard case 5200mah 2S easily. I've broken one $8 part and I've driven it plenty at BMX tracks and jumped it, too. It is the most scale looking truck to drive, too.

It is *not* a 6S Slash, and the people that break them seem to think it is...

I put some road tyres on my newly purchased tt02 drift spec audi and was very happy with the handling of it, although not the quickest with standard gearing and torque tuned motor but was fun,I'm thinking of getting a mk1 escort body and rs wheels with rally tyres on then I can have 2 cars in one, the audi body and drift wheels for indoor use and mk1 escort for outdoor use, unless I can get another tt01/02 without my wife finding out 🤔

Well, a day off from work, so I already had that going for me.

Non RC wise, I got a veritable mountain of unfolded laundry folded.
Later on I broke the rod end on one of the vintage Kyosho gold shocks on my Pumpkin.
That inspired me to reinstall the pogo shocks using ShenRC’s tubing trick to emulate dampers.
I can say I totally love the way it handles with the tubing. While I was at it I figured I’d install another “free” suspension mod and did the fishing line mod.
I’m very happy with the results
