•Axle 145 Posted September 16, 2020 Replacing the bearings and freeing up the gears has given me a new trick, it can flip back onto it’s wheels from standstill. Other than that, before taking my kid to school we went to the big park and have been letting the dogs chase the car, some inquisitive and some that simply want to kill it, we’ve got more top speed most of the time, I’d say it’s Car 1 – Dog 1. Mirrorman 248 Posted September 16, 2020 Sorry to say my built RC have been neglected for some time while I was occupied elsewehere. Time to start to a clean up, and see what's required.

Yup - that was why I left them on the shelf If you're wondering why the picture is slightly blurry it's because I was sobbing whilst taking it. So to those who have projects in progress and planned with me, everything has been pushed back 2 months while I strip and rebuild this and find brand new replacement parts...... Oh dear. That looks poorly. Was the BMX track in the vicinity of a farmer with a muck spreader? Bet you wish you'd kept it in a plastic box now don't you? 😋
mud4fun 1696 Posted September 16, 2020 spent far too long trying to remove super glue from an Avante2001 FRP upper deck (where a PO had super glued the velcro!), if they weren't so rare I'd just buy another one to save me an hour wasted off my life.....

svenb 3778 Posted September 16, 2020 Finished this. Been hankering after a TB01 for a while to give me a 1 2 3 4 TB line up. Getting hop ups and bits from various places and people is part of the enjoyment for me but main reason for a 01 is that I can use a Escort body on it now as the body posts are in the right place🍾🙂

This body belongs to my TA03 I've a Tiger striped for this.

Ferruz 11702 Posted September 17, 2020 Today I took the Manta Ray out for Round 2 at the improvised backyard track. I'm really happy with how it handles now, precise but still fun to drive. Two battery packs of trouble free operation despite driving at full speed and all the jumps (always nice when that happens). After the track I took the car for a roll in the undergrowth behind... now it smells like freshly chopped mushrooms cause it was literally paved with these 😲

Yes, I am wishing it had stayed NIB with a little plastic storage box of hop ups snuggled alongside on the shelf. I'm wondering if it's possible to shrinkwrap them? Anyone got any experience in this? I spent about 3 hours last night stripping it apart and giving it a thorough clean. The good news is is handled the abuse pretty well - especially as it cartwheeled on the axles several times 🤔😬👍 The bad news is I need to get some replacements - the chassis and alloy motor heatsink picked up some scratches as did the front bumper, so they all need swapping out, but other than those it's all good 😜 my beautiful anodised part is ruined - just ruined I tell you!! one for the scrap bin..... looks ok from this side, but when you turn it over......... Horrifying!!! Why do we run these things again??? 2 2

Those scratches may stay on the car, but psychologically they should heal with time! Just think of all the fun you can have, and when you cringe just turn around and look at your other pristine shelfers! You know what they say... once they've tasted the mud, you can't force them back on a shelf 2

I'm unfamiliar with this term "runner" - can you explain it please?

A runner is a runner once the screws have been shot blasted with use enough that they ain’t never coming out. Mrowka 496 Posted September 18, 2020 Charged battery for my Fox. Started my run and thought "wow, this thing is anaemic!" About 30 seconds in, Fox staged a sit-down strike. Diagnosed the problem as being the motor. Replaced motor with a slightly used unit I had, Fox happy again.

dannymulder 766 Posted September 18, 2020 I pulled out the rear gearbox off my hotshot and took it apart, one of the diff outdrive cups is badly worn and because of that the dogbone started to bind en vibrate the car. So have to order new drive cups, and I noticed that the rear dogbone lenght is the same as the wt-01 model so I am going to replace the rear dogbones with hpi ones that I have, they are the same lenght, the hpi dogbones have a longer dogbone pin, with these the outdrives wil still wear but the dogbones do not bind because they do not eat in to the drive cup , I have done the same to my wt-01 truck. No don't worry - it won't become a shelf queen! and just to clarify - I'm not going to be buying a new chassis or motor heatsink! In case you hadn't picked up on it I'm somewhat OCD about tidiness and things being perfect - I've trained myself to be restrained about it in most day to day things but I hadn't realised quite how I'd let it go wild on my RC stuff. I used to be like this with my motorbikes - I'd take them out for a ride and as soon as I got home I would strip the bike down practically to the bare frame - fairing, tank, lights, seat, undercowls, mudguards - all came off to clean it fastidiously. I even dropped the engine a few times to get in all the nooks and crannies. It seems I'm back to that behaviour with my RC cars! So no - the Durga will be a runner - but it will get stripped every time!
DeadMeat666 1675 Posted September 18, 2020 I just finished installing a carbon rear bodypost mount and a front stabilizer bar on the M08, and while I was in there, I salvaged the 5mm hexes I needed for the TB04R and gave the M08 4mm hexes instead. I also found some double-sticking servo tape and secured the newly-repaired receiver in the monsterized TT02B, so it's ready to run later in the day when the temperature outside gets more reasonable. Nothing too interesting, but it was good to get working on RC again after a harrowing week of non-stop office work.
