Such a beautiful day outside I gave up on waiting to pick up some PS Smoke and just finished the CRX body without it. Did an ok job, some wonky decals etc, but it's ok. Still want the correct wheels.

Working on secret scale project. Just finished painting the seats, still need to paint the details. I’m still saving up for the actual vehicle as I have purchased all the scale stuff for the build and next thing you know I ended up spending 3x the amount of the price of the actual rc vehicle. That’s just the scale stuff  only. Sigh 😔  I guess aluminum parts and electronics hope up plan will be up in the air.. too costly.

I've had a few RC outings this week - all within 5kms of home, of course. @jonboy would be very upset - they all have marks from running them! I also cleaned up some more parts boxes & tubs, rebuilt the rear shocks in the B5 and did some more crawling out the back.

Wrapped cars and bodies in bubble wrap and packed them into cardboard boxes for sending to their new owner.  I was afraid to ask if they were going to be given to kids for Christmas to crash into each other.  Turns out he is going to use them for shelf display.  Now I'm paranoid they're not good enough and he'll be disappointed.

He asked if I'd like to consider doing a couple of other bodies for him.  I'm not sure I'm ready for the pressure of doing that for someone else, especially for something to display.  I get a fraction of paint over a line or a decal not quite centered in a runner body and I'm annoyed.

I know the feeling. I am almost at the point where I can do shells to a standard that I am happy to display myself. I wouldn't want the pressure of trying to do the same for someone else!

Track Day!

20200920_123217

Had soooo much fun. Annoyingly the esc in the FF01 died after half a lap, but other than that i had a ball. Also used my new (to me) pit bag. Always wanted one when i was a kid

As usual, full blather on my Build threads.

My frien'ds aluminum/carbonfiber/steel crawler arrived. This kit is impressive. It came pre-assembled but I just rebuilt the shocks, installed the electronics and programmed the ESC. This crawler is simply amazing especially for the quality parts and price ($240). The only plastic in this kit are the piston of the dampers.

Cut my tree back in the garden for the winter so I can have the rest of the afternoon to tinker in my rc and put my super stock T type motor in my topforce

went food shopping.....couldn't find most of what I needed because of a stampede of panic buyers emptying the shelves after rumours broke that we are about to go into another lockdown....

got even more frustrated with my current three re-builds/restorations as all the parts I need to carry on are stuck in UK customs..... and I fear I will be stung for quite a bill....

was very tempted to buy a used Avante 2001 while I was meant to be looking for parts to fix the existing three I have.....

and temporarily lost my sanity, and even got to the point of clicking buy it now, on an Avante MK2 (DF03 chassis) but common sense saved me - too many damned buggies to maintain as it is.

I've put my T type super stock motor in my topforce and as I put it back I decided to finish off my used but in good condition avante that has been completely stripped down and cleaned new tyres and it's as new now but the body kinda let it down especially when it was sitting next to my other avante's/egress so its definitely worthy of the chrome body parts

Yesterday evening, actually. Grabbed the Hornet and went to my favourite urban spot, which was in much better conditions than usual for my intended use. This time I really made it fly, the pics and video are merely an indication of the actual jumps and stunts (it's hard to drive and film at the same time, at dusk when you can't see clearly to begin with)...

There's something about the Hornet and a pile of dirt, always a safe bet! I went home a happy basher.

After running the postal challenge (poorly! lol) with the Super Boomerhotshoterang yesterday, my daughter wanted to race me around the yard today. I brought out the Monster Beetle and she has since commandeered the Stampede so we gave it a go. With a 23T Titan replacing the 12T version and the ESC set in training mode, the Stampy is nice and slow now (plus less likely to punch a hole through my fence with my eager but novice daughter's hands at the controls). I let her win :P.

Instead of car bodies he asked if I'd like to do tanks and trucks!  I didn't say no, but the responsibility for getting an expensive vehicle like that right for someone else might be life shortening.

I figured out how to put 13t pinion onto my Bushy D.  Next big project might be a Super BlackFrog with 16t...

The motor and esc combo for the TB04R I was waiting for arrived a couple days ago, so I went ahead and started test-fitting electronics and broke out the soldering iron to solder some wires to the esc. Completely botched it up, so I'll try again next week. The metal miter gears also went into the TB04R.

I also did some more work on the M02L, got to step 17.

Sent off about half of my collection to someone else today, so I sorted my wheel and tyre collection for the therapeutic effect.

Now I've got a little money it's burning a hole in my pocket.  New-ish buggy, retro buggy, crawler, and stadium truck are all in the running.  The Kyosho Scorpion re-release thread has got my brain ticking.

Fitted a brushless motor to my Novafox.

The car performed brilliantly when it last ran at the beach with a Superstock BZ and TEU302BK. But the sand was very hard indeed on the motor. The comm and brushes resembling a ploughed field.

So that was swapped out for a Tamiya TBLM02S 10.5 turn motor and a Quicrun 10BL120 with the fan removed. Running a 13 tooth steel pinion (FDR 10.04) and metal hubs.

I should have included a photo of the chassis opened up, but if I have to take that cursed thing apart again I'm going to scream.

ESC set in training mode,

Which ESC is this? I assume its not the TBLE-02 but I’ll dig out the paper work and double check... sounds useful for my kid to learn with... how much slower does it go? I let him use the steering or the throttle at the moment.. not both.. Thanks.
