Finally fixed the plug on my old Traxxas battery (hopefully) the right way this time... with solder instead of wire nuts

Now it will fit in the Grasshopper chassis!

Did a bit more to the Willys Jeep. First I removed the body so that I could take the drivers seat pad out. The driver was sitting too high. Whilst I had the body off I disconnected the lights and steering wheel servo. Just for now. Then I took all the pre load off the shocks. They were about halfway and seemed to stick/lock. Ive seen suggestions that if you take the vegetable oil out and put in a thin shock it improves matters dramatically. Decided not to do that yet but just taking the preload off seems to make it more supple. Will try and run it properly later in the week. Put it all back and put the driver in. Perfect. Then I finnished off the .50 cal mount and gun, made a mount for the ammo box*, scratch built a rifle rack and then mended the broken Bren Gun that I won on Ebay. It now bristles with fire power.

* this might have been better if I had left the ammo box in the rear with the belt hanging down as the ammo box restricts the movement of the gun by hitting the driver in the head. Having said that I dont think this would have been driven around whilst sombody fired a .50 cal. It was more intended as a static gun platform. Anyway its mine and I like it!!!

Still waiting for bits and bobs to add to the trailer. Also want to find some clothes for the driver and one other. I think it will be a Anglo/American team so will have a US ranger and a UK SAS soldier on board. Uniforms are available but not cheap so it will have to wait a little while.

Like it. Is the driver just a standard size Action Man?

Yes but you have to remove the seat pad to get him low enough to make him look right. Also he has no boots on. He may even fit better if you cut his feet off!!! He's too nice to do that but I do have another that I might try but he doesn't articulate as well

I really like your Amarok @Busdriver!

That rear cage in your Jeep looks very much like the one I have for my JK. I’ve been collecting lolly sticks for a planked bed cover too. I have some Tamiya clear orange and yellow to try staining it.

I’m still working on finishing a 1:48 house for my a Christmas present for my Mum (I haven’t seen her so I didn’t have to rush to get it done) before I can turn my attention back to RC.

Coffee stirrers!! The cage was from Shapeways. It’s designed to fit your body shell but inside the hardtop. That way it’s slightly smaller so fits the Tamiya Wrangler. Going to use walnut wood stain and varnish. Needs rubbing down to get smooth. Have to wait awhile as I used pva and it takes ages to dry!! I never liked the look of the Blackfoot shell on a Wt01 chassis so made the red panels from vinyl sheet and cut out the details from a repro set of stickers and put them on a spare Amarok body that I had. Wheels were painted.

Bought a classic on ebay, one of my favourites, cannot wait for it to arrive.

Might have to sell this to fund it though

I fitted m3 hex connection nuts to the steering ball links of my Hot Shot. This seems to have greatly reduced the tendency to bump steer and is much cheaper than tracking down a vintage Parma bump steer eliminator kit.😎

So my buddy announced he will be buying a new rc car and I should get ready for some speed runs.

so I did, I took a look at my FF03, car has been shimmed and all... it seems I have a faulty ball bearing on the rear left, but how not I hit a wall with 70kmh sat least.

I installef harder spring in the front and added about 25gr weight in the center of the rear axle.

the weight center seems to be more towards the center of the car rather then heavy front.

CbM84q9.jpg

these silver weights have only 3gr together, they were designed for some pan car and to stiffen the chassis. But for me they are more cosmetic, hiding zip ties and holding the smaller 3s lipo in place.

and the beast...

My Comp and Night Crawlers are now both back among the living and ordered a set of Proline 2.2 Hyrax in the Predator compound for one of them,  thought I lost another dig servo in the Comp Crawler, I think it’s an issue with the linkage binding though.

Looked at pre-ordering the Losi LMT roller since I finally sold my old Losi Aftershock last month. Trying to decide. Then Tower has a 20% off sale on a few Tamiya kits and I’m not sure if I want one of those.  Ordered a new pinion for my Thunder Dragon. It’s all in pieces but a good cleaning and reassemble is coming soon!

I added controllable headlights to the Lancia 037. I used 3mm leds and a switch controller from Amazon, and the rest is just some drilling and soldering. I don't really like the 4 modes on these controllers, especially the blinking mode is just useless to me, but I couldn't find anything else like that at that price. I also added a bit of clear orange to the leds to get a warmer white, which looks more realistic.

Finished my second 1:48 scale shop (the first one - the red one - still needs a few finishing touches). You can't see in this pic ibut the ground floor has a fireplace with a flickering LED, the fire was painted using Tamiya clear orange and yellow. The red shop has a Lego toy rabbit painted up as Peter Rabbit, both have Christmas trees.

DSC_0427.jpg

It is a belated Christmas present for my Mum. I have some scale snow to decorate it if she wants me to add it.

The red shop needs a first floor fireplace to hide the wiring and a windowsill. I have a few bits of furniture for each shop and then I am done.

Then hopefully I can get back to RC.

Checked my Agrios box in the loft - no sticker on it so I'm off to see if RCBearings does a kit for the TXT-2. Indeed to check the garage and make sure I haven't used the servoes or ESC I bought for it. I'll need a couple of pinions.

I'd hoped 2021 would be crawler-biased but let's face facts - my son is seven this summer, monster trucks are going to win every time!

If you've never had a DT-02, I can strongly recommend the Nissan Racing Truck. I got it off TH back in December when they were running a similar 20% off deal. It's a great platform for bashing. I recently converted mine to a Sand Viper.

Replaced the silver can with a black one. Also replaced the bushings with the bearings. The upgrades are just for my satisfaction as this one is a shelter)

These arrived a few days ago. Fitted to the Jimny and the Wrangler. The l shaped brackets are Ikea fixings to hold cabinets back to the walls. Should have bought 3 sets as the Dynamog which will be my best tower i forgot about. Have a home made version to fit for the time being.

Another project basically finished. This lockdown has lot to answer for. The rear deck of the Wrangler has been planked in coffee stirrers, stained walnut and varnished with yacht varnish . Also fitted an upstand around it to give it a little depth. I couldn't find proper cable ties to do some wire management on my Lancia 037, so I modeled and 3d printed my own, they're the perfect size for 4-6 small wires.
