If I had any sense, I’d take this minty chassis, add my box-fresh Tamiya Mini body and stick it on eBay. I’d hopefully make enough to buy at least an M07.

Bit then Mrs BC wouldn’t get the car I had planned for her! And I hate getting rid of things... Fear of regret...

I think I’ll build the CVAs now, I’ll add some to the list of hop-ups I’d like for the ‘01X. I have a body ready for it - Monster Swift - that I didn’t use on my M05-RA.

If you really want another M03, I reckon you could build one from NIP parts for less than you pay for a second hand Tamiya Mini! Though if SWB, you’d need a body...

You're right there! I built my M05 purely from NIP parts.... That one was a bit more than Kit price, but then I went FRP everywhere I could, and Yeah Racing Aluminium Shocks and CVDs. So you can say it was decent value, considering that there was no wasted parts!

I reckon that I COULD build a M03 cheap enough - with some Upgrades.  Speaking of regret..... I HAD a M03 Mini that I sold. 😭  I actually HAD to. But Man do I miss it!!  I don't even care that when I sold it in 2017 - I got more than 4X what I originally PAID for it.

So any M03 IS going to be a 210mm Mini Cooper - despite the INSANE prices the Bodies are going for lately. The M03 may be basic, even simple.... but it's got a fun factor that I can't put words to.

BTW, in my experience, the CVAs CAN be made leak free and smooth with one simple Mod - Team Associated X-Rings instead of the mediocre Red Tamiya O-Rings. 😊

The maker of my 'knock off' Mini shells doesn't ship to the USA but if you don't mind the Clubman front, how about an RCon shell?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rcon-1275GT-Mini-Clubman-Clear-Lexan-Body-For-Tamiya-M-Chassis-MTC-M01-M03-M05/114427474501?hash=item1aa468b245:g:txEAAOSwEeRfbZ6d

Surely these are available in the USA?

Thanks for the x-ring tip :D I'll add them to the parts order list...

Completed what I'm calling my (mini) collection of modern Tamiya motors. The Super Stock BZ,  my latest and last addition, just arrived yesterday.

The Dirt Tuned most recently saw action in my WT-01 and will likely find its way into the MF-01X Escort, once I get my hands on it. The Sport Tuned is currently in my recently completed VQS.

Picked up a killer deal on an XV-01! It looks to be in great shape and only needs a body and ESC. I think it's the version that has the longer shocks as well.

well that went bust reaal fast... my TBLE-02S ESC decided to have an argument with me today. i had the TT02D sitting on the desk looking all purdy with the red and carbon painted R33 for a few weeks now. i dont really make much time to run in the underground parking as its far from ideal location but i wanted to try and run it for a few minutes just now. all went well until i tested the controls on the empty kleenex box/RC stand. forward was good but the reverse wasnt there even with a 2 signal input. most of the times i need to hit reverse a 2nd time before it goes in reverse. i didnt change any setting on the transmitter or the ESC. i noticed the reverse wasnt there just now so decided to try and run it, not a minute in the reverse dont work or stays in reverse until i hit forward to put it in neutral. i had to hold full D and get my foot behind the model to prevent a wall hit. thankfully i gave it a very short leash of 5-10ft so its wasnt a rush. i dont know if the ESC is getting some error as there are no flashing lights and R is either non responsive or stays full reverse after i let the trigger into N position. this is the 4th time i took it out for a run none of them lasting longer than 15 minutes by choice.

my setup isnt anything special: 5000MaH NIMH and 540 sport brushed Tamiya and tactic ttx300. i dont think there was any radio interference as i ran it fine with the usual actual cars in their parking spots. if i see more than 1 of 10 cars not parked then i wait for some better time and i tried running the RC 2hrs earlier than before.

at the very least i can say i ran the Skyline for the first time in 2021. i can try again but i can then run the m2 coupe as i dont care if the lightly reinforced shell gets damaged in the underground parking wall impacts. maybe i should go buy a hobby wing brushed 1060 ESC just to have a spare ESC in stock... if the TBLE-02S is this unpredictable then it might be a good idea.

I KNOW!!! 😁 I'm so tempted.

Oddly, an Evilbay Seller in Bath - DOES ship to the U.S.!! Body and Shipping will still cost $48.00.... Which is a lot, but WAY better than the $100 - $175.00 that some IDIOTS seem to think that the original is worth! 😠😠  Even the HPI Mini Bodies are about $100.00!

But the M03 Chassis is doable. Yeah Racing Alumininium Shocks are only $25. I could even do HP Suspension Pins and Aluminum Arms for not a lot.

Question...... I'm finding M03M and M03L for DIRT CHEAP. Is it just a matter of changing that Chassis Block in front of the Rear Axle to make it 210mm? Or are there other Chassis differences?

The chassis length is changed by adding / removing this piece

From the M03L manual -

I don't think I have those parts in any of the M03 I have picked up - they have all been SWB!

The seller of the RCon body seller is RacecraftRC who are actually an LHS, not just a virtual store

https://www.racecraftrc.co.uk/

It is strange that the bodies aren't for sale through RCMart who stick other RCon bodies or available through a seller in the USA.

It is good that you can find a cheap M03, they are getting expensive here. You have to watch out though, one of my previous 'bargains' turned out to have a slightly warped chassis - which is how this one ended up having all new bits! I went a bit daft and got all new chassis and suspension arms, SS suspensions shafts and a hex screw kit.

Upon further consideration, I think I may be able to rescue the warped chassis with a Fibre-lyte servo brace

https://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/fl/cars/tamiya/m03ff02.html

It has been said before, these M chassis cars are like rabbits, turn away for a second and even more appear!

Found you can change the servo in a Comical with splitting the cases. Took half an hour rather than half a day.

Might have time for another project now as well...

Thanks!! I thought that was all there was to it, but wasn't sure.

Forgot about Fibre-Lyte. Don't know how much U.S. Shipping is, but being small and light, it SHOULDN'T be that much, right?

And thanks for the Racecraft Site!! There's some other things on there I'm interested in as well. 😉

I paid a lot, for a chassis plate and two small plates he wanted 10GBP for tracked and I said no way... thats really to much, I send a whole car for 10GBP to britain, he let it down to 6GBP without tracking.

Last bit of maintenance took less time than I expected so I looked in my sad projects box to see what I could do.

I have an SCX10 chassis built with all eBay Chinese parts and maverick scout axles. I have a Fake Bruiser body from the appalling mess that was sent as RTR.

Think I need to build custom links to get the wheel base correct. Any tips or suppliers?

Fully compressed I think I am about there. Full lift is maybe a bit high but I have seen actual mud trucks looking worse. I might be able to fit shorter springs.

I have the rest of the RTR stripped to the smallest components, I might put it all in a bag and stick it in the sale section. It is terrible but maybe someone can do something with it.

Had a tinkering day. Tidied up my modelling space a bit. Put a few things in the loft for later. Boxed up my Willy parts to send to @toyolien , did some motor changes, goolrun brushless from M06 ( just too much)  into the Cayenne chassis and the sport tuned went the other way. Fitted the body kit to my kei truck along with some proper tyres to the c spoke wheels. Now I need to decide what colour to paint it . Fancy something garish like lime green or pink???00158884-8B8E-4D12-AC7B-74D4983BD78B.jpeg.7fb311371b9296299aabaca562f1d72b.jpeg

Trying to get my fleet ready for some spring time driving. I can’t be bothered with all the cleaning that is needed in this foul weather we are having in the UK .

Youngest Mudlet fitted a new set of FS Racing display wheels/tyres to her Thundershot and then took her own photo of her current fleet:

img1721_912202031115_7.jpg

From left to right: Aqroshot fitted with Wild Willy2 wheels and Imex Dirt Hawg tyres and a Schumacher Cougar wing, then Vanquish, stock other than FS racing wheels and tyres and finally Thundershot with bespoke shocks (made by youngest mudlet herself from various spare shock parts I had lying around) and fitted with same FS Racing wheels and tyres as per Vanquish, All three shells painted in 3 light coats of Tamiya dark gunmetal and backed in 3 coats of black with smoked cockpits.

Went out with one off my daughters for a spin in the snow (splendid weather today). Was also hoping to test the Lipo cutoff on lvl High set on 880 Quicrun, butAfter ca 40 min in the crispy cold weather we could not wait for cutoff anymore, Amazing performance all the way, im very impressed. But as performance never was a issue on buggy so they will keep Nimh setup

Put the chassis of my m-05 together and put some silicone sealent on some holes on the outside, it looks not pretty but it keeps dirt out of the gearbox.

I only run the car twice and the second time I run it I broke a pin of a cvd when I got home and removed the cvd I noticed that the drivetrain was stuck, so when I open the gearbox it was full of small pebbles so that is the reason that is use silicone sealent on the chassis, maybe I paint the sealent black because this one you can paint.

Went crawling and trailing with my daughter and my RC buddy at a local popular crawling track called "Mount Neo". It has a lot of different stages from easy, intermediate, hard, to extreme.

It’s fun. A bit noisy but for the money it’s great. PS 16 no good as it’s a hard body!
