Did some postal racing, enjoying the sunnier weather.

Thought, seems warm enough, make a start on a car body.

Half a can of Translucent blue, two coats of Bright Gun Metal, then two coats of Black. Disaster.

The Blue and Gun Metal went on over the course of a few hours, but still the black managed to penetrate it. So now, do I strip the whole body back, or find some way to salvage that, or just live with it as a beater?

Maybe decals can be your friends on this one? You could go for one of those sticker-clad liveries... just another option.

I had ambitious RC plans in mind for today, but they got buried in a big snowfall along with everything else. Slushy and wet beyond description, there was no way I could run a buggy anywhere.

We decided to go for a walk anyway just to get out of the house, at which point I took the Boss with us for yet another slush bath. Turned out more fun than expected, as my wife volunteered for some videos

The action walk snowballed into this :P

Also, I started rebuilding the Hornet... gearbox done!

The intention was to enter my first postal racing session, but light rain yesterday meant the lawn had to be mowed today, and I also forgot to put any batteries on charge as well, and then I ended up having a beer with the wife watching the sun go down. Oh well, I'll have to enter postal racing part 9.

Yesterday we went for a walk in a local park and there was a guy with his daughter running an SCX10II, trailing on the paths and trying to scale a riverbank. “We could come here and do that” said Mrs BC. Right, better finish the JK...

This morning it is 4 degrees centigrade in the garage so I did as much as I could before the cold set in to my fingers and I started making mistakes.

Third delrin plate cut and drilled on both sides so now cutting down the original single plate mount to go in the middle so it looks less Swiss cheese-like.

I think this might actually work! Three plates a lot stiffer than the single but the delrin is pretty light so not too much weight added. I’m sure a single metal plate would suffice but I’ll use what I have!

Managed to get the build of my TA01 MRE Nitro Conversion pretty much finished this weekend - after a lot of head scratching, I worked out how to get the throttle/brake/ servo horns aspects to work, despite very limited space. Added the pipes for fuel etc, and will add some hop ups later. Also made a few adjustments to my TG10 pro. Nice sunny day too 👍

Tidied up my triple layer mounts a little - plenty more could be done to make them look nice but hopefully they will be hidden under a load cover one day!923E1514-FBEA-446D-B52B-8F0DB13F444C.jpg
A little more fettling required to the bottom of the middle layer so it fits well against the chassis rail and I can get a screw through.

i didnt have much time to play around today but i had to drop by my parents' place to drop off some things and gets something back. i brought my slash to the park but it only lasted a few minutes. i didnt charge up the battery last night on purpose to see how much run time it has. i did manage to get a short video while filming and driving with one hand. the battery died soon after the vid ended. it went from 8.6v down to 8.0v so i now know its limits of an hour and some change. that was full throttle so its clear the battery was too low.

im a bit torn up, amazon has the Jconcepts V1 baja shell for the slash. it  just set me back $80 but i did order a set of proline trencher 2.2/3.0 tires a while back for the slash when they were low stock. apparently the payment didnt make its way yet as it hasnt shipped yet and they are now listed as out of stock on amazon. not sure what the status of my order is but the stock tires should last a fair while as is. i know badlands may be better but trenchers can deal with pavement a bit better and more suitable for me.

Did a quick mock body mounting with the new escort on a m04 👍

Don't like it gravel rally high so it's going tarmac spec with slicks.

Old wrong wheel drive body in the back ground.

Waited a long time for a suitable body.

Ordered up a new chassis for my DF03ra. After checkout I went to check how bad the crack in the chassis was and found I needed to also get a new front gear case. Thankfully they come with front and rear gear case on the A parts tree, so the car will look pretty new once I install them.

I got to spend some time this weekend working on my DF-03. It was supposed to be a stock build, but I've somehow talked myself into adding a bunch of blue bits. Since my last update, I've updated the servo saver to the Hi Torque version (51000) along with aluminum servo horn and cap, replaced the stock servo screws with Tamiya blue ones (54862), added the slipper clutch, heatsink bars, and steering turnbuckle set.

Two mounts test-fitted and trimmed

FDE10D03-EAD7-4F69-A96F-73D463FBF42D.jpg

Now to get fitted and reassemble the rear suspension so I can fit my rebuilt RC4WD dampers on the front with the new wheel arch liners.

Then, plug in the electrics and see if it still runs..maybe...

I did the VW camper wheelie a few years ago and to date it was the most time consuming body I have ever done!
