Willy iine 18806 Posted April 9, 2021 A bit behind Wez-li, but got this far today. Unfortunately the previous owner cut out the slots a little larger, etc for no reason on the lid so now it has to be a runner as it dropped in value. I will have to buy an unaltered lid. Atleast the body came unpainted. And unlike the previous one I did a few weeks ago, he gear box was not over greased. Willy is excited.

As long as you don't buy new Talking of grease, this tt02 didn't have a drop used, anywhere Built to spec now

I suppose it's okay considering open gear box do not use any grease either between the spur and pinion.., but on the Willy's the gear box uses brass bushings so those areas must be oiled for sure. I also like to use grease on the diffs as it's metal shafts and plastic bevels.

Excellent job mate 👍🏻 The previous owner must live near me 😉 I must be one of the few who doesn’t actually have a TT02 of any sort....yet. I’ll probably use one for a MK1 Escort body at some point though 🤔 1

I hope to have some time to inspect and disassemble the used LWB Willy later today that has been standing by.. You are a very dab hand with the paint brush (& M38 resto’s!!) Keep up the great work. 1

Nicadraus 6201 Posted April 10, 2021 Two of my friends and I had an "unplanned" RC afternoon.
gregdogghurst 321 Posted April 10, 2021 Technically last night but cracked on with the DB02 (and a few beers). Just waiting for rear uprights and turnbuckles to arrive to finish off the chassis. It really is a great build

berman 5315 Posted April 10, 2021 After my kids shared birthday party, I sat down with a corona or two and swapped some of the wheels and tyres around on some of my M cars I had bought some weeks ago. The runner M01 got the old 55d wheels and tyres off the mint M01, and I assembled the new 55d wheels, tyres and foams and put them on the mint M01. My M03 mini also got new factory silver/gray minilites, although now I've swapped them out, they look a bit dull compared to the bright Monte Carlo wheels it sat on before...
BJoe76 571 Posted April 10, 2021 Picked up some paint for my WW2 body from the local auto paint store today after work, going to shoot it in Jeep Moss Green Metallic then probably dullcoat it instead of a gloss clear. It was also the factory color of the XJ Cherokee I had to scrap last March
Willy iine 18806 Posted April 10, 2021 I got the latest Willy chassis back together. The resistors are just for show to cover up the enlarged slot the previous owner made. I ended up running a 1060 as the TBLE02 I prepared would not set to brushed mode and kept flashing red/green (error). Also painted the drab body today. Tomorrow will do the spare tire and blacken the interior..and some brush paint. This is where I started. Rusted dirty bucket of of mess..

Willy iine 18806 Posted April 10, 2021 Just now, Cynan said: Wasn’t this something racers did back in the day as although it meant the gears had to be replaced move often, it did provide better performance? It's possible. But gears themselves did not wear any faster as I've had M-chassis with no grease on the gears (ball diff was greased) and no issue.
Driveforfun 69 Posted April 11, 2021 Over the last 3 days i've ordered a new HoBao cage truggy and picked up a new Traxxas Jato during a visit to a packed and festive Hobbytown today, which surely played a part in my decision to pull the trigger on a 2nd RC buy. My debit card burst into flames walking out of hobbytown, also. Really I just sold a couple Nitros I was fed up with, at least that's part of my justification process. Broke in the Jato today per the manual's 5 tank process, have not run it freely yet, but already I dig it!
Ferruz 11702 Posted April 11, 2021 We finally got to spend a whole afternoon outside, enjoying the warm weather. I had a blast running the Manta Ray, four battery packs in a row just shredding aimlessly through the grass, getting used to driving it in anger again! I really enjoy the new 10BL60 ESC, it almost feels like it's a different motor from before. 6
nel33 870 Posted April 11, 2021 I really like that paint job on your Manta ray. If i happen to get one myself I have a good idea on a multicolor scheme. It must have been an interesting process to paint yours... 4 battery packs, that must have been a good few hours of fun :).
ImALlama 1370 Posted April 11, 2021 Painted the body for one of my Baja reys the other day and got around to putting it on today. Some paint got under the protective film in some places and my tape failed to do its job in some others, but the body will get beat up anyway not that big of a deal. Tried painting my fighting buggy body but that didn’t work out to well either. Tamiya pure white became a pure nightmare and looks like I’ll be doing some sanding and have to start over. I knew I should be careful after reading the other thread about it but even the lightest of mists made it look like a dumped a bucket of paint on it.
Nwc100 462 Posted April 11, 2021 In need of PS1, it's the only RC related item I need right now and my usual go to Eurocarparts is out of stock! Put the final coat of red on yesterday and now waiting on white to back them both.
J@mes 2326 Posted April 11, 2021 Building on the excellent work already done with this Farm King I backed the PS44 with Core RC Chrome and Knight White. These metallic backed trans paints look good in photos but better in person.

Willy iine 18806 Posted April 11, 2021 This morning I found a little me time so painted the interior and spare tire. Someone (sorry forgot who..) asked me how I was masking the body to paint the interior so here it is. Hope it helps.. First layer is Tamiya masking tape. Then random packing paper and 3M masking tape on top. Here's a bonus why the spare needs some putty. I hate that parting line.. Just standard Tamiya putty in a tube. #220 to #800 sanding block and sponge. No parting line. Paint is TS46.
Cynan 520 Posted April 11, 2021 Had a go at my first mod today - the HS steering mod using a YR M05 steering set. Not to sure how if this allows for the wheels to turn enough yet or if I’ll have to cut away some more of the sides where the screw to hold down the top case goes yet... but hopefully not. Also need to buy some more spacers and some nuts. Just used what I had to hold it together for now for testing. Thanks to @MAD RACER, @BORMAC and @SHY69 for the inspiration! Great mod guys.
Willy iine 18806 Posted April 11, 2021 Very clean mod, Cynan! Got everything painted today including making the stand and chocks. Will assemble tomorrow. 2
