Took my RC10 B6.3D to the track for the first time on Friday. First practice lap, one of my shocks popped apart and emptied. I bought more shock oil, rebuilt it, and went to register. I needed a body hole for the transponder and had to ask for help. Regulars took a look at my buggy, only the second kit I've ever bought, and were mildly bemused. They reassembled a few things, added screws to places I'd missed them, and got me on the track. I made it one lap before I broke my servo. That ended my first night of racing. I marshalled the next race, learned to fear 1/8 scale buggies, and went home.

Not sure when I'll be able to replace the servo, so racing is on hold for the moment.

That sounds a lot like my first race meet a few years ago. I had bought a second hand car and the diffs were installed the wrong way around so the car went backwards, also broke my steering servo and finished early. So glad i stuck with it though, its loads of fun once you've worked out a few things!

For servos, I've found the Savox 1258TG to be great bang for buck. I've bought all mine secondhand and they have never missed a beat, but even new price is pretty decent for how good they are.

Took the cars up to the St.Ives track for a bit of a fun morning with some mates. Got about 6 laps in when I did this. Well darn, that put a damper on things (so to speak). I managed to clip one of the metal stakes used to hold the track edging. No other damage, just a very neatly sheared off suspension mount. <_<
Luckily I had some spares from the Comical Hornet which fit, although they are black, not yellow so it will just have to look mis-matched.

I had the Comical Hornet with me so we had a bash around the carpark instead.

Long time no see, hope we are all keeping well?

Here's a little snapshot of everything I've been up to RC related over the last few months. I've let my TC membership expire this week too, which prompted me to come back and post, I'll get that sub paid soon.

I re-organised my shelfs for Christmas, otherwise the wife was threatening to make me put everything in the loft:

51188405375_ee8b883d91_b.jpg

I plastered a load of MCI decals on my Kyosho Outlaw Pro:

51187340091_251bbf9321_b.jpg

I got my XV01 running, then promptly broke it (electrical issue) :

51186641432_8e84e48f33_b.jpg

I dismantled my FAV Shark Mouth and evicted the spiders living within it  I quickly realised it had a TEU302 ESC in it and not something with LiPo cut-off, so it's still dismantled until I decide which electrics to install...

51187558103_1e1f94b0db_b.jpg

I fitted lights to my CC01 Defender 90 then took this terrible photograph:

51188405200_d75ab11030_b.jpg

I had to buy a 1mm hand drill in order to fit some metal treadplate, intended for the Traxxas TRX-4 defender, but fits OK on the Tamiya:

51186641117_7ce6006c86_b.jpg

Most recently I painted a bodyshell for a work colleague after originally offering to do it about 6 months ago, but finally getting around to it:

51187554313_2485cd4642_b.jpg

No window stickers / rubber surrounds. So I masked the whole lot up, which took about 3 hours

Was it worth the effort?

There's not really much I can get on with building so far this year. Because of various construction projects both at and near to where I live, there's just too much dust for painting.

So I have to confine myself to fitting hop-ups to existing cars for now.

My Lancia had previously been treated to a steel pinion, Tamiya alloy motor mount and some black TRF shocks, and today it was fitted with the thicker Tamiya prop shaft and the GPM alloy steering set (which I really quite like).

It's not much, but it's an excuse to post some pics, which I haven't done in a while.

I like this car so much that I've gone and bought another, Ooopsa!

Found some energy and time to disassemble and clean my new to me SWB Willy #2.  There were a few broken parts, but I have 3D printed parts for it thanks to seimensays ..overall in very good condition.  Very excited to put this car back together later today.

Also received tracking from Shapeways for additional 3D parts so I might even be able to finish the car this weekend.

What a beautiful Lancia. Been tempted to get one myself for a while. I wonder if anybody was ever willing to give up the 4WD setup and convert this chassis to 2WD just for the sake of realism, since the 037 was a rear wheel drive. I think I'd do it at some point just to see how it looks in action, and than get back to 4WD for convenience lol.

Anyway, car looks great!

I was able to finish assembling the chassis today.

Not only was the right tower broken, the bulkhead was also broken so had to improvise by adding an elongated circle so that I can fine tune  the side to side play of the tower with the left side by turning the screw after assembly.

Should be fine even for long term.  The towers are 3D printed parts by seimensays.  I am so glad I had these on hand.

The lid also had a nasty non-circle-drilled-out-mess where the resistor wires would come out, so found a plug from my PDR gear in my garage.  Looks okay, I think.  I don't get why people drill holes in the lid.  There is absolutely no need.

Gonna thin down my cars, just been deciding on what's being let go.

In the meanwhile I'm still plodding along with the TLYaris. About 50% of the decals left to do.

If anyone's interested this will be for sale the second it's finished

Went to my LHS and picked up some sundries 😄 and fixed a couple of cars (one Tamiya, one Arrma).

Was going to buy 4 pairs of these tyres, found out there was only 6 pair left in stock so... 🤷‍♂️

I do wonder if all the guys that actually drive and race m-chassis cars over here would be rather salty if they knew that one person was buying up all the tyre stock for his shelfers ☺

Follow up the S18s...

The Buggy is in perfect shape does the inspection say... only the fron dampers are critical. I used on 1 shock in the lower cap some Windscreen 1:1 car glue. will never come apart again. but should not leak and stops the cap coming off. diff and resto as new. real a haul I had. New set of tires and I am race ready on both.

C1iy6z2.jpg

Took off the spoiler on the TC to give the body a clean and light wax polish coat.

and more LRP S18n updates

Both are now all cleaned, ball bearings, diffs... no damage or wear. seems like almost unused.

conclusion, the S18 TC has both front and rear ball diffs. the S18 Buggy has gears diffs. ball diffs have reinforced gears the buggy gear diff has white plastic gears. Also the TC has the hop up lrp black can motor.

On the buggy i also trimmed the motor wires, so that I can re use them on a motor.

Not today but yesterday after work, I took the RC10 out for a dance in the dirt.

No postal racing or whatsoever tracks this time, just enjoying the view of this buggy in action as it's so dramatic to watch. Just can't shake off that '70s feeling even though the car is from the '80s

Today I got a lot done, but nothing really to show just yet.  Mainly cleaning up the SWB M38 chassis's scratches, repairing the body (cracked, chipped, missing plastic, etc, etc), sanding the roll cage corners smooth, painted the inner wheels drab.

image.png.fdba48fcd80a76d9daa8bb1bf433eaa9.png  image.png.761dfc17f2ee44f6c9585cb10dc2effb.png

Tomorrow I expect to finish the repairs on the body and  begin painting misc body parts and 3D wheel covers.  :D

Well in a possible rewritten song by Hot Chocolate you could say,

🎶 It started with a Diff...🎵

0F0EF536-1079-44D1-A7E0-461911724FE5.md.

That’s all I was going to do, but it was long after the Screw bag A and Blister packs of a Fighting Buggy were being opened 😃

FD2ED093-4A1F-43C8-A2AC-8757D89D10FF.md.

20t Kyosho power for this one as I believe the finished article is a bit on the heavy side...

F1CD463D-CA07-4CE6-ABB4-0E642132F2A0.md.

Gearbox done...

9B32A8F5-223F-49F5-BF27-D1857187F8AF.md.

I also dapped a bit of polish on the metal as I was assembling to hopefully keep it looking nice for longer...

So with that done for today a taste of New Zealand is in order, it apparently gives you some super power to fend off any unruly Guinea Pigs that might have an eye on your Damsel in distress 😉

Hard to put the screwdriver down huh? 😄

Be interesting to hear yours and @Jonathon Gillhams impression on that beer, I think it's quite average 😬 Great marketing gimmick. You MUST use a Bar-B-mate for those ferocious guinea pigs though!

I actually don't mind Wakachangi, its not great, but its better than Lion Red.  And I drink a lot of Lion Red as its $8 jugs at the local boat club.  Also, you're right about the marketing side.  Leigh Hart is part of the ACC and those guys are hilarious, unless you have your 6yo staying up watching the World Cup final and then the ACC aren't so funny.  And then your wife goes to bed and they're a bit funny.  But your 6yo never falls asleep so they're never as funny as they could be.

Right now I'm on a webinar put on by one of my suppliers.  I should be more excited...but its 6.45pm and I've got a wine and its been a long day...my camera isn't on so I can have all the wines!

Back to topic, yesterday went to my LHS and picked up wheels and tyres and inserts.  Funny when the fastest guy at the club is also the LHS owner and asks what I want.  I just look at him and say "whatever you run".  So now I have 1 less excuse for being slow.  This is all for the frontie though.  Also got a velcro battery strap so I'll get the battery holders sorted (will need more dremel and carbon fibre work) and the FF04 will be complete, ready to sit at the back of the A main next race meet.

The marketing obviously worked on me  @berman, the fact I found the write up quite amusing and it’s got my name on it (although I’m not actually  a great uncle yet!!) as well I had to give them a go. Not bad stuff really as an easy drinker 👍🏻

It’s also a good thing that the grub screws in the Universal joints that hold the drive shafts on  have been stepped up to 4mm which helps to a) see them better, b) easier to handle with fat fingers.

Installed a 48p 18T Xray Pinion into my reely truggy instead the 28T I did before. 28T heats up the motor good.
