So are you old school or new school?

Definitely old school! Too many wings and winglets on modern Rallye cars. But nice work on the Yaris.

Hey, hope you're well? I have a similar setup on my XV01 but have overheating issues after about 10-15 minutes. I've even fitted a fan to the left-hand side of the cover which is pre drilled to accept one. Did you have any overheating issues with this setup?

I agree, and as a former 1:1 Evo owner, people used to say the wing on that was excessive

Hey Chris!

Ran two 4000 batts yesterday with the XV. 6mins heats and 4-5 mins rest intervals. So far I didn't have any issues.

Wasn't sure if I could CPR the SWB #2 blue-helmet Willy back to life (it had SO MUCH blobs of paint on the face from the original owner!) so painted 2 Willy faces at the same time.

I think I got him back.  Will finish the rest of the helmets tomorrow.  This one is going in the 5844 Pajero.

More Details on my Grand Hauler!  Starting with some creative ESC mounting...

spacer.png ...... The theory of mine that Locking Diffs causes undue stress and kills your Steering circle!! 😖😲  I've always had better solutions to Locked Diffs. THIS one works particularly well for the Metal Tamiya Diffs that come in the Semi Trucks, the CC01, CR01 and several others... spacer.png It literally needs to be SHOVELED in, but it STAYS there!! NO leaking! 😊👍👍

spacer.png

spacer.png....  I did put a layer of RTV Silicone around the seam - but nothing leaked out before that!

THE PROOF OF CONCEPT!

This REALLY works - BETTER than Lockers, better than AW Grease. And it STAYS firm and all Wheels pull Hard - but STILL has full Differential action for smooth Turning!!

If I can convert just ONE Person from going straight to LOCKING Diffs, my work is complete. 😉

After a very long hiatus I finally got my Tamiya mojo back and got cracking on one of the new kits that have been sitting in the cupboards after I've moved house to a different city. I'd say I'm about 65-70% of the way there, with the remaining bits being the suspension and laying stickers on the pre-painted/precut body. Satisfying build for sure, but the front gearbox sounds like a jackhammer on corrugated steel, and not in a good way . I now know what everyone's talking about when they refer to the rere gears being rubbish compared to the original Fire Dragon ones. Any harm to just let them wear themselves down with use or should I take it apart and address it?

Obligatory pic:

For now I have finished the "paint" of my former Blitzer Beetle body on a new chassis. The plan was to create a worn out old school flame paint job. I'm pretty please with the outcome.

Working through some depression of late finally and finished up my pieced-together Lunch Box for my daughter. She started with a Hornet (w/55T crawler motor installed) years back which she immediately drove into every solid object in sight. When grass became an issue she took over Stampede driving chores. With the slower 21T Titan motor and the ESC set on training mode, it worked out well for her and she began to gain control. As a reward, I put together a Lunch Box (one of her favorites, aside from the Bigwig) with a lexan body and a 35T crawler motor. She's quite happy now and does an excellent job of keeping the 'Box under control. I'm amazed at her restraint in throttle usage.

Here's a blurry pic of her driving her new Lunchie as it bops around in the backyard.

then repaired and filled and primed and painted. Finished up today. Running body for the scorcher

my TS- smoke can failed on me and I ruined the window so had to go full stealth. Turned out ok for a basher

Had a bit of a Vintage Sunday morning: I took out the Samurai for a gentle run, as it's been almost one year since it last had a chance to stretch its legs. Every time I see it in action there's an instant grin on my face: what a buggy!

Can't help imagining how it would be to just let go and drive it in anger... 👹🤠

Got a lot done today, made my usual custom M38 stand to keep the SWB#2's tires from flat spotting along with wheel chocks, sanded and began painting the 5844 Pajero body, finished painting Willy who will drive the Pajero.  The other head is drying and will be doing another torso this week.

build some lego, a Star Wars Imperial Shuttle, the Lamborghini speed champions set and this lego RC car. Will attempt to drive it at some point. Almost I must say the steering slop doesn't inspire confidence!

had another go at printing stickers,

recent-purchases-2021_05_24-7.jpeg

tried a 3D print of a Volvo 850 body. 66 hours to print this, done in PLA as a test print, which is just as well, as its about 40 mm too short  The plan is to do the final print in ABS, clean up on a base and have a go at vac forming it.
