Indoor training at the local club (temporary track in the community hall) for the first time in ages. Only a few other drivers there, so my lads and I  could get quite  a lot of run time in. The other guys were driving extremely fast 1:12 pan cars, making our stock class TT-02s look as if they were moving in slow motion, so we stayed off the track when they were on so as not to provoke any crashes.

My younger son has never driven on an indoor track before and the side panels of the club's track can really cause damage if you hit them badly, so he used his trusty indestructible Thunder Blitz. He did well, and now wants an upgrade to a 540 motor for next time (I know I've got the upgrade kit somewhere!)

My older  son is getting better than me. I am more aggressive but he has a good eye for cutting the corners with millimetres to spare while I am more likely to hit the border.

Great afternoon despite the heat. Looking forward to next time.

Re-did a Willy I painted a while back today.  The red on the helmet was originally 3M 2080 automotive vinyl, but now Tamiya's Italian Red laquer and redid his eyeballs while I had him off his M38 as well.

Saw a resident of my building  who has a different unit just a few minutes ago ie condo building. He has a 4x4 Traxxas kit which might be a stampede, he isn't sure which model exactly but it wider than my 2wd slash. It's faster than mine but the knobby tires don't do so well on pavement ie off-road tires. I brought my slash don't to show the proline trenchers and I noticed they have much more grip than stock tires. Havent yet run on grass but i find myself correcting the steering much sooner with hard acceleration than before. It also seems faster with the extra grip but that might a mild illusion as running out of running space does play a mild factor. I do notice the speed and grip are better. I think it will be more fun to drive now. It reaches top speed faster and limiting throttle input  seems to mimic the stock tire performance.

I finalized my design to allow easily to pass from Lunchbox body to Midnight Pumpkin body (easily = no screwdriver needed).

Front mount with brace for the Lunchbox (stl found on Thingiverse) and adaptors for the Midnight Pumpkin
DBJuOAn.jpg
UT3K3zp.jpg

Rear mount for Midnight Pumkin (stl found on thingiverse) and adaptator for Lunchbox body

Everything is printed in PETG, and it will work. I will see with a friend if he can print those parts in Nylon/CF resine as I do not have the proper printer for this...

My son will be happy as he will be able to use the two bodies with minor work (with front Lunchbox mount and rear Midnight Pumpkin body mounts). Unfortunately this doesn't work with an Unimog body and I have no clue for other bodies that would work with CW-01 chassis...

Finished off my schumacher laydown today with a professional paint body! First time I've had some one paint a buggy body for me and its absolutely stunning the detailing is probably the best I've ever seen!

I am so tempted to get an LD2 to use at my local track. Used to race a Cougar 2000 when they first came out in '94/'95. Miss those days 🤔

This is the original laydown but still a superb buggy the laydown 2 has literally just arrived in the shops the original is still available at a very good price at the moment! I think if your a hardened racer you probably could tell the difference in the upgrades but if your like me eather one is probably more than good?  the chassis and just the overall design of a modern rc buggy is just superb👍

Thanks. Wouldn't say I'm a hardened racer but have raced on and off for the last 30 years. Mostly 2wd Buggies and Short Course Trucks. My local shop has a few LD2's. Might pop in...maybe.

An hour and a half of disused car park fun.

DSC_1261.jpg

El Kid may have broken the servo on the M03. Either that or the radio gear is on the fritz. The M05-RA was benched for a while when the shock tower lost a screw. It was found and the servo saver did its job when my Dad connected with a keen a couple of times. Needed one on the M03 :D.

The winner of the day was the M04. The new homebrew front mounts did their job, the body was rock solid. El Kid declared it his favourite (well, the Mini had packed up by then).

Haven’t really done much recently. Am on long term sick/furlough and the days seem to melt into each other. Anyhow gave myself a proverbial kick up the donkey and did a few bits. I’ve been playing around with my TT02 T chassis to turn it Ito a rally car. Fitted a 10.5t bluebottle and hobby wing esc wired direct to the motor. Received a crimping tool today for servo plugs so will try have neat wiring for once!!. Did some work on the body, the blue tape is to try and uncurl the flying sides . Will use very gentle heat to try and get straight sides. It’s going to be done in Belga colours. I think I may apply the scheme stickers then mask the inside. Easier to se where to put the tape. I’ve managed to get 26mm ground clearance as well as cutting off the nibs off the bottom of the front suspension as they catch on everything.57BFAD13-0ECE-49A4-8D9E-42045F8F8538.jpeg.cc8ae2ad5d8fd970e0f81f333ef3bf0d.jpeg7F363EBC-FC30-4276-B707-A81AF5435193.jpeg.8ded744d214122a2ea20231e5d0dba95.jpegA8AA63F5-A2CF-4E17-8CD1-D5FE0058B153.jpeg.4dd506755362382fb30b56db9f839fca.jpeg802DF335-4501-4A10-8A87-41ACDF07E927.jpeg.b160f4db7c50298568557179c966ac9b.jpeg3E0DE423-A558-45D4-BBD5-A4467EC156E5.jpeg.a13cef9135fe411782fd68ab7267decd.jpegC6BBCDB8-C281-4B4B-86CE-024D0F12ABD0.jpeg.957ca039ad58927681506bbb1183e154.jpeg3908A8D9-6AF8-4052-B116-986279C02844.jpeg.a135d7c807eb40155d1d9c424ef07146.jpeg

then as it was fairly dry I took the Rochobby jeep for a drive in the woods. I’m now running it on 3s and boy what a difference. 2s is ok but 3 is a different ballgame altogether. It now runs at scale speed but that also means too much steering can make it roll!!. I ran it first without the gearon it and on hard surfaces on tight 360’s it lifts the inside front wheel off the ground. You have to be quick to catch it or it rolls 😩 it’s a great trail/crawler it’s only let down are the tires that lack a little grip compares to soft sticky crawler ones. Having said that it will cope with  way over scale terrain whilst still looking right. Fitted all the accessories back on and started mocking up a gun trailer to carry the .50 cal machine gun and Action Mans mate.8E4E8724-2CC8-4616-B461-C0B21C136656.jpeg.de4228859577748f18079e4bceee6a5f.jpegoh8B52A77B-4FF3-4478-82A9-FDDE616CB26B.jpeg.4d1ccc7c08b7c00e8f8f3ab09c42c443.jpegD5EBC082-1BBF-41F9-A84F-A6231D8A8926.jpeg.57d719800e53f965e8da1f42c5ffc5ad.jpegD612C43B-16B3-4951-B952-3E6349A4E46F.jpeg.456c6a74049c448ad9ea8b263da6a08c.jpegF674B190-DC70-4AF3-8E6D-EF19FE3DAC2A.jpeg.0f3664483a1711489f8778684cd1546e.jpeg849B6666-BCF7-4640-83DB-38EDF1FCC00E.jpeg.d9cf20a0042a92caff14da3f73af59f5.jpeg

Happy Father’s Day to all you fathers out there!

Spent my morning taking my real car out for a nice drive, then worked on making a weekend-bolt-on-guy Willy for the City Turbo.  :D

Here's my Team Losi JRX-Pro. Its not a full resto (at least not yet) but I did finish off a body for it today. Its my only Losi product, but my second favorite behind the original, iconic JR-X2. I have a guilty soft spot for the long front dampers and the JRX-Pro (like the fins on a '59 Cadillac) represented the highest they'd ever been, gradually getting shorter again in future models. My interest in those long front shocks is probably linked to the Associated Stealth cars from the Worlds, which was just considered ultra-high performance to my adolescent mind back then. At any rate, I'm happy to have this one in my collection.

Well, all my Postal racing and overall RC plans for this Sunday went straight down the drain! While we -and other tenants- were away, a pipe broke in our condo and flooded our unit and the two ones downstairs with 5 inches of water each. We came back to an emergency team and a dozen industrial fans/dehumidifiers and now have to clear our place entirely and redo all the walls and all the floors, plus other repairs and whatnots. This will take a month or more and we'll be moved who knows where by the insurance meanwhile 🤬 well at least we are insured, and none of my RC stuff got damaged. Am pretty bummed out, but I guess nothing like these little horrors to put things in perspective!! Aaargh!! Felt good to vent on TC though

Geez @Ferruz sounds like a nightmare 😬 Sorry to here that. Feel bad posting the opposite end of the spectrum now.

I was doing Postal Racing on the beach but realized that I wasn’t doing the loop around the outer most marker correctly so my results today are null & void 🙄 Had a good session though, Mrs Re-Bugged got some good video of a Hawk that was interested in my Buggy Champ as lunch (will try and sort that later)

Probably most may not notice the difference, but fixed Willy’s eyes this morning.  Yesterday my right hand had a shaking problem due to drumming the previous day too much.   I play cajon besides keyboards and I think I over did my practice the night before.

While I had him on my decal-painting booth I made him a new necklace/tag as well.

Metro 6R4 chassis now ready to roll. Started to sort the body out. Fitted the window masks and cut the spray film around the the black detail on the rear wings. Sprayed them Core black then removed all the film. Rather than fit the stickers to the paint scheme ( as it’s not a model spec set) I’m going to mask for paint using the stickers as a guide from the inside of course. Actually I think it looks quite good clear!!EF71DFC5-F6CC-4186-965E-2E526CFCE4AA.jpeg.9d9872495b5f9505edf42cfd44a28a87.jpeg88133836-400C-475C-9753-0929D62871BC.jpeg.c97ed6a58ee0cd88c4f47ca587e582ad.jpeg8CCA8CEB-2CBA-4B17-A749-A5A02AC9310E.jpeg.7965adb4ec7895d679676d76bd31c58d.jpeg

now I just have to decide whether to do the red or white first?
