first time rust weathering so if you have to roast me then keep the temps low please. think i over did the side fenders a tiny but but i considered areas where water finds places to rest and take that into account. i took the Bob Ross technique and didnt worry about not being perfect to be to predictable. the rear bumper and front grill turned out fairly well. used light rust wash, dark rust wash and dust effect to remove some hard to scrub chrome shine i was able to get easily at.

The hardest part when weathering a car or part is to know when to stop. But I think you do very well. I like it. 👍

Thanks,  I mostly did the dark rust first and then added light rust to finish off the parts. Still think I added too much on the side but not excessive amount.

You need to get some Wenol and polish your bumpers!  ;)

Replaced the bearings in the WW2 gearbox today. Also cleaned up the burrs where it’d been cut from a parts tree.

It was nice to see how much grease they had put on too. I definitely put on too much.

Work continues on this...

It's a Charleston kit, meaning the rear quarter windows are incorporated into the big black slab decals so I've only just realised I need to get creative with the trim tape at the rear kidney windows...great.

I don't think Wenol is a local brand here, gonna go with Brawndo, it has electrolytes. It has what you need!

Errrrr I think there was a typo somewhere... Brasso is a local brand, it's s metal polish. I think it would work on the bumpers as long as the chrome finish looks a bit faded ie not new. At least it will clear some of the buffing marks on the bumper.

@Cynan Looks good.  Which drab color did you use?   TS5?  TS70?

My son is now designing a spare tire sticker for my 5844 Pajero.    I'm going to make a comical tow hook for the car later today..

TS28 as per the manual. It’s almost early the same colour as the plastic. Made it hard to tell if I’d covered it properly  I would have liked something lighter to be honest but the first build has to be box art! Second shell for running I’ll go for something lighter.

Just wondering what to do about the Jerry can now.. why they supply it without a back I’ll never know. Might 3D print al alternative one or try fill it with something..

TS28 sounds good.  I used that color on a few of my M38's..  from the picture the color appeared darker, but TS28 is one of my favorites as well (TS5, TS28, TS70 are my main olive drab color choice).

As for the jerrycan, I suppose you can just paint it the same TS28 (jug and holder), or spray the jug one color (red?) and the jerry can holder area TS28.  Tamiya masking tape works well for masking that area.     Shapeways sells a 3D printed backing for the jerrycan, but you'll need to putty the gap to make it look nice.  I have it on a few of my M38's but honestly, I think it looks fine with that gaping hole on the back side just as long as you paint that side too..

Today we made a new friend, can you see him? I'll give you a clue: for once, it's not furry.

Swearing revenge or what?:lol:20210718-190102.jpg

Cute, squeaky guy, he really did get comfy and was gonna nap in there for a while, I had to gently ask him out in order to keep running the car

Came across a black Supra today! A80 though so doesn’t count :(.

Looks like I’ll have some free time and good weather this week so I got the tt02s on the setup system to get them ready for some postal racing attempts. Glued a bunch of tires. Also put the esc in the f104, still waiting on parts though so I can finish it.
