Permanent night shift the last 9 years. So 4 hours is about what I get each day. Get around 10-12 at weekends. 👍

My son made me this Wild Wendy M38 decal.

Going back to my SS..

Will clean this up a little more when the paint dries.  I don’t have those fancy ink pens people use so just used a brush.

The only RC-related thing I have managed today is to ponder battery placement in my JK trail rig. Again.

I bought a nice 5000mah shorty pack for some long runs but it won't fit under the hood as there are already two servoes (steering and winch), motor and chassis crossmember. I can't even pinch @JennyMo 's idea of hollowing out behind the dash thanks to that crossmember. I could fit it on top of a slider but it would mean losing most of a seat, which is a shame given the nicely detailed interior and opening doors.

So back to my previous idea of having it at the rear with the ESC and RX under a load cover. At least it is a bit lighter than the NiMH pack I had  which made the truck drag it's *rse along the grass like a dog.

Time to panel out the rear, make some proper boxes to house the electrics and tidy up the wiring. Maybe finish it in 2022?!!

Nice! I’m amazed. You‘ve mentioned you have  poor eyesight but still managed to do this with a paintbrush. If I tried I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t know what language the text was meant to be 😂

Sold the Blitzer last night, so that will be packed and sent off today.

I need to concentrate on work, house, getting fit again and then I can reintroduce Tamiya for day to day therapy.

My Sand Scorcher and Super Champ are my next ‘T’ boxes to unpack and they can go on display 💥

That looks really sharp. The colour split along the whole body seems to lengthen it . IMHO It needs not much else!!!

Thanks, I too think it just needs the roof painted to tighten things down and white meat balls on the doors, few accents, and would be all set.

As for the sides I did not smell any outgassing just now so I will move onto masking and spraying the roof this morning, followed by matting down the kidneys later in the pm.

Then let dry for another 24hrs+ before mild surface spot sanding and polish.

Update.. going to hit it with some battleship red..

IMG_Nov142021at85508AM.jpg.22395afad63dae3ffbedceb08067d3d5.jpg

Update..   I got 4 tiny leak fingers I need to remove on the roof but otherwise looks okay.   I was hoping the transition from Tamiya’s masking tape to the masking tape for curves would not cause a leak, but oh well.  Will sand and polish it out later.

Update…I got the ugly fingers sanded away, will polish once the battleship red has fully cured.  :D

Final update for the day..  Will continue working on it Tuesday after everything fully cures. :D

Thanks for looking.  Sorry for the slow progress.. painting is all about patience.

After I found the correct rims for my PIAA Honda Accord, I installed them…only the decals are still missing.

Was going to bid on a body on eBay. But on closer inspection decided not to. It's listed as a Tamiya Pennzoil Nismo GT-R. But it is infact a HPi body that is quite shoddy and is 200mm wide to boot. Feel sorry for the poor mug who buys that tbh. Anyways, still on the look out for a decent used 190mm body for my E4JS runner

James.

I bet you've seen the NIB Pennzoil body set!?

A snip at $1650.00

Hee hee - I've found the solution is to just build a whole new one, on a Vanquish Phoenix chassis...

... although admittedly the battery tray location in the Vanquish also means you have to compromise on that original moulded interior.

fwiw. I think hiding the battery in some kind of box in rear is the way to go if you can't squeeze it in behind the dash like I did with my JK 2-door as you mentioned.

Thanks @JennyMo, I have been following the Dark Phoenix build with interest. Rear mounted battery is going to be the way to go on my build - I want to get a driver (with all their legs) and maybe a passenger on board.

I MUST finish this rig before I move on to the next one. Though I have already started amassing parts for that one - it will be a real homage to a couple of your builds.

Battleship red? Is this an inside joke of sorts, or have I finally gone colourblind?

Yeah it was an issue I had maybe 10 -15 pages or so back while I was painting my comical SS  battleship red..

I have worked out it’s too cold and damp for painting really, and hope when I check in the morning that the decals on the roof of my novafox provide good coverage!

Took my M-05 out for a drive (along with my Thunder Dragon). Find that with the slightly bigger lipo and thicker cables, it is making a budge (not that kind) on the side of the body.

So swapped the cable direction to the right, tidied up the wire runs and added a lipo alarm on the transponder mount, visible through the front windscreen.

I had the same issue with mine to @alvinlwh, so I invested in some M05 Pro chassis halves as they take a square battery pack with the terminals coming out the top.
